Research Assistant – Thermal Exchange Laboratory
Identified the research scope and potential for scientific contribution to the water community after thorough analysis of existing literature on mixing in storage tanks
Investigated the effects of different control variables on mixing dynamics in municipal water tanks using CFD with ANSYS FLUENT for isothermal, positively and negatively buoyant inflow conditions
Performed Multiphase Flow CFD Simulations of Fill and Hold cycles in water storage tanks using VOF and species transport, with control variables of jet velocity, aspect ratio, variable fill and temperature
Formulated different parameters like COV, Kinetic Energy etc. to characterize mixing in vessels; Developed analytical expressions from first principles for CFD verification
Automated post processing of raw CFD data into meaningful results using PYTHON scripting language
CFD results validated by comparison with established empirical behavior and analytical expressions
