Director of Finance/Finance Consultant August 2011---Present
A senior level position created by virtue of a promotion, responsibilities include (in addition to the duties of Controller highlighted below) managing all aspects of the Foundation’s finances including all 7,000 transactions, processing payroll, creating a $13M budget and maintaining the entire general ledger while supervising a staff of one finance clerk. Additional responsibilities include preparing all internal and external financial statements, presenting monthly financials to the Finance Committee, working directly with independent auditors to prepare the Foundation’s audited financials and Form 990, and direct involvement in all administrative matters such as contract negotiations and personnel issues including new hires and terminations. Singlehandedly revamped the entire accounting cycle by implementing a state-of-the-art software package that communicates with the Foundation’s bank and credit card companies to seamlessly import transactions while self-generating the organization’s 19-page monthly financial statements in mere seconds. Lastly and perhaps most importantly, critical tasks include managing the Foundation’s cash consistent with best practices to ensure the organization’s liquidity and prevent wasteful and/or unnecessary spending.
Controller February 2010---August 2011
A versatile tenure during which I maintained the entire general ledger of the Foundation including accounts payable, cash receipts, payroll, financial statement reporting and a host of other activities while reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. Other responsibilities include bank reconciliations, endowment/investment activity analyses, grant applications, all balance sheet account reconciliation, and working closely with the auditors during the fiscal year-end audit. In addition, I work closely with department heads to ensure that expense budgets are met to preserve the fiscal health of the organization. Finally, additional duties include assisting various departments with logistics and administrative duties including insurance, transport and any labor as needed.

Accounting Manager September 2000---February 2010
A rewarding tenure of more than nine years as Accounting Manager for the nation’s ninth-largest opera company with a budget of over $11 million. Responsibilities include overseeing the payroll for more than 150 employees, ticket revenue and cash receipts (manual & automated), general ledger analyses, and financial reporting functions for internal & external decision makers. Additional responsibilities include analyzing & recording investment account activity, all bank account reconciliations, journal entries & preparation of audit schedules. Finally, duties include preparing complex state, county & local budgets for grant purposes, analyses of revenue classifications (unrestricted, temporarily restricted and permanently restricted) while actively upholding the Opera’s fiscal & internal controls.
