•Worked with C13 welding team to repair design flawed flow distribution reactor flanges

•Designed and managed production of re-engineered reactor components

Ablestik Laboratories, Rancho Dominguez, CA 2006 to 2008

Process Development Engineer

Identify, develop, and implement process improvements supporting product enhancements for a supplier of electrically and thermally conductive pastes, films, tape adhesives, and underfill encapsulants used in electronics manufacture. Team with vendors and clients to assess and execute changes. Facilitate audits, manage internal and external communications, and develop engineering change documentation. Lead process changes across multiple, physically diverse sites including new equipment qualification. Troubleshoot Non-Conforming Materials Reports (NCMR). Provide direction and guidance as member of Materials Review Board (MRB) and Change Approval Board (CAB). Scale up and push new products through process development Stage Gates.

Selected Projects & Achievements:

•Directed manufacturing cost reduction efforts for the 2nd and 8th largest volume products. Assessed opportunities using Six Sigma methods. Developed multi-phase project plans, and managed process reengineering resulting in 30% reduction in costs that directly improved profitability by 6%.

•Identified and remediated oversize particle risk for pBOC product line due to customer usage methodology change. Saved $13 million in sales with potential for additional savings across all product lines.

McBain Instruments, Chatsworth, CA

Metrology Application Engineer (2005 to 2006)

Guided clients through tool development for a provider of custom microscopy metrology to the semiconductor industry. Provided onsite consulting, training, and product support. Created microscopy solutions used for contamination analysis, including Xray Flourecence (XRF) and Confocal microscopy techniques.

Luminent, Inc., Chatsworth, CA 2000 to 2005

Chip Processing Section Manager / Chemical Vapor Disposition (CVD) Process Engineer

Directed process engineers engaged in controlling, monitoring, and improving flagship DFB laser manufacturing, wet etching, wafer cleaning, evaporation, and thin film coatings processes. Developed and coordinated production planning, development experiments, and technology transfer. Identified and implemented process changes and controls. Planned CVD equipment installation and process troubleshooting efforts. Monitored, tuned, and optimized MOCVD processes.

Selected Projects & Achievements:

•Built a team of engineers and technicians from the ground level supporting MOCVD production of InP-based lasers for CWDM and DWDM applications.

•Planned and implemented manufacturing infrastructure improvements to Thomas Swain reactor resulting in 20-fold improvement to DFB laser production.

•Reduced supplier costs up to 60% through vendor price renegotiation and supplier changes.

•Procured electro-capacitance voltage measurement equipment, leak checkers, and digital photography enabled microscopes that reduced downtime and increased throughput for MOCVD manufacturing processes. Concurrently reduced costs for outsourced diagnostics.

•Developed process databases used by R&D and process development teams to correlate first order yield effects and to improve awareness of process abnormalities.

•Implemented changes to device structures, MOCVD growth parameters, and photolithographic masks that vastly improved yield and electrical performance.

•Supported ISO certification by developing Procedural Library technical documentation.

•Created PNPN and 300 mm mask implementation strategies.
