TASKS and RESPONSIBILITIES OF ENDOSCOPE REPROCESSING TECHNICIAN

1. Scope Cleaning and Sterilization

a) Demonstrates proper antiseptic techniques in manual and mechanical procedures

b) Ensures that sterilization room equipment is functioning properly always

C. perform the leak test on each scope and report any damage or breakages to your supervisor to initiates repairs/replacement of equipment as required;

d) Cleans and sterilizes Scope Unit daily;

e) Assists with autoclaving of surgical equipment from procedure rooms

f) Follows IFU guidelines with regards to QA in Scope Unit, adheres to endoscopy sanitary policies and procedures and infection control guidelines in accordance with IFU standards and requirements;

g) Responsible for proper storage of endoscopes;

h) Maintains log for Glutaraldehyde changes. Solutions and disinfection of endoscopes as per guidelines.

i) Communicates pertinent information to other staff members as needed in writing or verbally.

2. Equipment Maintenance / Safety

a) Ensures that patients are safe, comfortable and free from falls;

b) Ensures proper functioning of all clinical equipment by regularly monitoring and doing performance tests, following IFU QA guidelines;

c) Completes and maintains equipment maintenance reports;

3. Interpersonal

a) Maintains open, positive communication with colleagues, supervisors and physicians;

b) Communicates with the health care team to assure patient needs are properly met.
