Revamp of Isoprene unit from low purity isoprene of 65% to a higher purity of 99%. Rating existing and sizing new pumps and pressure vessels. This project involved significant improvement to water filtration system and the firewater system. Preparing process basic design document for MBO water Filtration/Chlorination system under supervision of the project lead. Assisting senior engineer with evaluating several cases performed in AFT Fathom for a hydraulic study of the fire protection system at the MBO facility. Responsible for obtaining estimates from different companies to improve MBO’s filtration system.

Quench System Make up Water OP1/OP2, Lyondell Eastern Region, CHO, Channelview, Texas. 04/2007 – 06/2007

Maximum flow rate of make up water to the quench tower is increased from 225 gpm to 300 gpm. Preparing instrument process data sheets for pressure and flow control valve for the new service. Generating Pressure safety relief valves (PSV) calculations for the new relief device on boiler feed water line added in Quench system make up water. Performing inlet pressure drop calculations to check for 3% rule using Jacobs hydraulic spreadsheet. Preparing a record copy PSV folder for the plant. Marking up changes on P&IDs.

POSM Project, Lyondell, Ningbo, China. 09/2006 - 04/2007

Preparing for a grassroot 876 kt/yr of propylene oxide/styrene monomer plant specification document defining the design, fabrication and supply of a catalytic converter system of propylene to propylene oxide to efficiently control emissions from Ningbo, China. Checking and marking up changes on P&IDs for Propylene Oxide/Styrene Monomer plant according to client requirements. Comparing properties between simulation data done in Aspen Plus and equipment data sheets for each process area to check the material balances in all process areas. Sizing new relief devices using Jacobs PSV spreadsheet. Updating reference documents and investigating discrepancies.
