A dedicated and innovative Mechanical Engineer with 4.5 years professional engineer ing experiences in product/procedure developments, finite element analys is, fatigue analysis, multi-body dynamics and 3D modeling design; outstanding academic background in solid mechanics and computational mechanics; skilled at varies FEA software and programming languages

> FEA software: ABAQUS/ ANSYS/ Nastran/ Hyperworks/ Simlab/ FE-Safe/ Gambit

> 3D modeling software: Creo (ProE)/ Solidworks/ NX/ CATIA/ Rhino/ Magics RP/ Geomagic

> Programming languages: Fortran/ Matlab/ Python/ Mathematica

> Others: AVL Excite/ Virtual lab LMS /SNOPT / Tecplot / Latex/ MS office PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Engineer-Performance/ Simulation/ Application Caterpillar, July 2012-present

2.5 years experiences in Visual Product Development Engine Mechanical Analys is team, majorly focus on developing product/procedure to help the designer on optimizing the product design and the simulation process. o Successfully developed and automized the procedure to identify the fatigue life for gear products. The procedure (written in Matlab and Python) enable just one button to start with the Gear design (ProE) model and the dynamic gear loads, go through with the FEA (ABAQUS), fatigue analysis (FE-Safe), auto-generate the report with fatigue life/ factor for all the gear tooth. o Worked on varies FEA and fatigue simulation projects for core engine components (head/block/liner, and etc) to evaluate different designs. Provided the design guidance/recommendations to designer and test engineer. Working closely with testing/field data, and experienced in correlation for tests and simulations. Expertise in ABAQUS on non-linear analysis, thermal mechanical analysis, elastic-plastic analysis. The go-to person in the team for resolving ABAQUS non-convergence issues and technics of ABAQUS usage.

2 years experiences in Engine Systems Simulation team, mainly focus on engine structure and dynamic simulations support on new products development and current product investigations. Delivered high time-demanding, custom focused results. o Worked on varies current product failure investigations. Simulated the possible failure mode, tested and verified the hypnosis, provided the failure investigation and recommendation for the designer modification. o Worked on new product development (Clean Emission Module) projects. Worked closely with designer and test engineer for shaken table tests, and provided the dynamic force response simulation results for design recommendation and testing guidance.

o Successfully conducted the ANSYS vs. Abaqus benchmarking on none-linear contact problem (bolt joint problems), and identify the key parameters to align the results in the contact problems between two software. Strong expertise in ANSYS contact problem algorithm and APDL seconding development coding. RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Contract Project Solid mechanics institute, BUAA, June 2006-Dec. 2007 Stress analysis and testify the mechanical properties of carbon fiber reinforced polymer. Successfully developed a Matlab program to simulate the randomly arrangement of the carbon fibers and used ABAQUS to verify the failure properties with the experimental data and provide the stress analysis.

Research Assistant Center for Computer-aided Design, Univ. of Iowa, Jan. 2008- July 2012

Successfully implemented the sparse solver (skyline solver) for a Fortran-based finite element analysis program, significantly reducing computation time.

Developed a new FEA program for NURBS geometrical models written in Mathematica. Replace the traditional shape function with B-spline in the new FEA program. Performed stress analysis on NURBS base geometrical models for contact problems.

Stress analyses via ANSYS on heterogeneous material model (bio-tissues). Experimental model design via ANSYS with shell model for heart valve. Successfully designed the diseased heart valve model and demonstrated FEA via ANSYS. Teaching Assistant Project Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Univ. of Iowa, 2008 -2012 Drafted the whole lab curriculum for Finite Element Method, designed the FEA models through ANSYS in different applications, lead the lab and helped the students to resolve the issues in using ANSYS software. EDUCATION

Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering The University of Iowa, Jan 2008 – July 2012 Research Area: Computational mechanics, solid mechanics, hyperplastic materials and tissue mechanics

Graduate student Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics(BUAA), Sep 2006 - Dec 2007 Research Area: Solid mechanics, finite element analys is on composite materials
