I applied and ultimately was selected from a nationwide search (one of 10 like-minded educators) that received full scholarships to Western Michigan University. This Scholarship provided a tax-free stipend, tuition, expenses and travel to seminars. I became a full-time Doctoral Scholar and my reason for leaving the public school and my job

1969-1970

Assistant Superintendent at Berrien Springs Michigan Public Schools for Superintendent Lee Auble. Lee was desirous of my succeeding him as the next superintendent for his upcoming retirement. I also functioned as the Head Basketball Coach for the same school district.

1965-1968 Andrews University High School

Physical Education Teacher for boys and girls grades 9-12. In this position I supervised, critiqued and graded University students’ (seniors) as they went through their teaching practicum in Physical Education and Speech. I also functioned as the Assistant Principal in charge of discipline and attendance. Became popular teach/coach who was the “go-to” guy frequently visited upon by students instead of them going to the full-time guidance counselor on staff.

1962-1965 Benton Harbor Public School

Teaching position for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students on a rotation daily with 30 students per class, five classes per day. Also, worked bus transportation of students before and after school hours. During this time I charted the first and only privately held driver education school in the state of Michigan for High School Dropouts as well as teaching driving classes after school and in the summer.
