Duties consist of making adjustments such as aligning, replacing parts or components to correct problems. I also perform repairs that is accomplished without the removal of major components such as replacement of blowers, injector pumps, injectors steer differentials, final drives, shim packs, electronic control modules, and wiring harnesses. I utilize blueprints/schematics, technical publications; Depot Maintenance Work Requests (DMWRs) or National Work Maintenance Requirements (NWMRs), Scope of Work (SOW) or Shop Work Instruction (SWI) as required. My repairs can range from minor adjustments to complete overhaul. I work in a facility which can consist of a in-process, test track, or shipping operations to perform duties involving troubleshooting, adjustments, and tune ups of assembled heavy equipment. I perform visual inspections on vehicles to identify missing parts of deficiencies prior to release from my work station. I repair defects such as hydraulic leaks, fuel leaks, oil leaks, water leaks, and air leaks. I utilize a variety of tools to accomplish my tasks that includes but not limited to gauges, instruments, micrometers, bore scopes, dial bore gauges, straight edges, dye penetrants, depth gauges, multi-meters, amp gauges, etc. I visually inspect cargo beds on MRAP (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected) vehicles to determine repairs needed, that can range from minor repairs to completely rebuilding cargo beds. Performed a full range of major repair work on heavy duty mobile equipment vehicles powered by internal combustion engines (gasoline, diesel or multi-fuel). Used a variety of hand tools as well as calibration tools. I worked on military vehicles such as the M1114 & M113 (Upper Arm), M1151 (HMMWV), M1152 (HMMWV Truck), and M996 (Ambulance). I replaced equipment parts such as ballistic glass, seals, front and crew passenger seats, belly armor and damaged or missing hardware. I Also drained fluids from vehicles and prepared vehicle chassis for DRMO. I disassembled hub assemblies installing new parts, seals, and brake shoes along with ensuring hub was free of air leaks.
I supported strong environmental safety, and training programs to help keep my work environment safe for my own personal safety as well as my fellow co-workers. To ensure safety, I always remained alert for any potential safety hazards while practicing good housekeeping to maintain a nice clean work area, and always kept an eye on co-workers to make sure they were working safely.
