CNC Machinist/ Mill (with some Mastercam experience )

Background

My name is Gary Ellis and I have the capability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with a focus on quality and strong attention to detail, while using my experience I will complete the parts hand, either by blueprints, given verbally, or by sequential operations on a traveler. I am both a team player and a person who own needs little supervision, being very independent. I have many years in machining and have had ideas that have saved over $25,000 in a single night, just by working with engineers and submitting ideas I have, others have saved as much as $80,000 in time over the run of the contract. One of the things I take pride in is the detail of my work and a good consistent quality record, this being at the top of my list. Also I have a lot of experience on high dollar parts costing over $130,000 a part, and I enjoy machining a variety of parts, and can work to +-.0002, filling the needs of close tolerances in the aerospace industry.

Tools

I have a large seven drawer Kennedy rollaway, a nine-drawer center box, and a 7-drawer upper box weighing about 660 lbs. equipped with quality tools I have collected over my years as a machinist.

Work Experience:

I have been semi retired from machining since 2013 and have been back and forth to England to see my parents who are both in there 80’s,while working odd jobs. While there I spent some time as caretaker with them while they are both still alive, also to see some of Europe. Since been semi retired I now wish to return back to work because of the cost of living in San Diego.

I worked through Volt at Hazard Center in San Diego, while there I ran the flex rings for the military ($130,000 each per part) in building #2. Doing, multi tasking jobs while running the flex rings, not making any mistakes on the parts I have ran, because no welding was permitted on any of the parts, I also have a good work record on the parts I have run my salary was $23.00hr worked there from May 2012 to almost November of 2012.

Took time of my work schedule as caregiver for my parents in England who are both elderly, from 9-1-2010 up to when I started at GKN

RUTLAND MACHINE: 2766 Via Orange Way #H Spring Valley, CA Phone: 619-***-****. Owners are my self and my father Geoffrey Ellis before he retired and I took over the shop. Among some of my duties were programming, setting up and running both CNC Mills and Lathes, quoting, material purchse, and delivery of the parts. Being a job shop, Materials were Inconel, hastelloy, SS, titanium, delrin, ect. parts varied from aerospace, oceanographic work, R&D, semi production, fixtures, inventions, and improvements the customer’s request. I ran the shop while my dad started to retire with a salary above average, working as an independent contractor, Worked from 4-21-01 to 8-6-2010 salary $45-$100hr and I

got a percentage of that. (reason for me to be leaving, shop is closing upon due to retirement of my father and me going through a divorce)

Metalworking at 1495 Sorrento Valleys Rd. San Diego, CA 92121 Phone: 858-***-**** Supervisor: Steve Johnson at Ext.112. I made parts for Solar, Maxwell Laboratories, General Atomics, and GKN Aerospace - Chemtronics Inc. Basically a job shop, I run CNC 4 Axis mills and CNC lathes, also manual milling and lathe work. I work with all types of metals INCO 718, Stainless, Aluminum, copper and fabricated parts made from cold roll and hot roll, I have worked on parts weighing 4000Lbs. Right down to little parts weighing only a few pounds. A salary of $22.00 hr. Worked from 5-12-2000 to 4-20-01 (reason for leaving, shop owner filed chapter 13)

Premier Turbines at 10180 Willow Creek Rd. Phone: 619-***-**** Manager is Tom Hughes. Premier turbines is a FAA repair station #UTVR540, dismantling and repairing turbine motors by either repairing the existing parts or making new parts for re-assembled motors after having a given number of flight hours on it. I ran parts on the 4 Axis mill repairing parts costing about $60,000 new also running the CNC lathes and other CNC mills and Parts were made usually from INCO 718 or titanium. Salary of $20.00 hr. Worked from 7-10-1999 to 5-10-2000 (reason for leaving, shop relocated to Wyoming)

Senior Aerospace, Ketema Division at 790 Greenfield Dr. El Cajon, CA 92022, Phone: 619-***-**** Supervisor: Monty Grove, who works from 11:30p.m. To 6:30 a.m. on 3rd shift. I make parts for Allison Turbine division, a variety that includes components from some of their most popular turbines. I make Mid-frames that include the 508's and 969's with a cost of $24,990-$34,000 per piece, and high-pressure oil tubes, seals, etc. Most of the material that I work with is INCO 718 and titanium, with some 4340 on occasion. I am very versatile on many types of machines and with different types of controls. I can also run multiple axis mills and doing lathe and mill work, having tolerances of +-.00025 on both OD and ID diameters. I have worked for this company for a total of four years beginning in 1982, and doing high-tech aerospace work, doing Rolls Royce, Pratt and Whitney, and also GE work. With a salary of $20.38 hr. worked 82 to 98 over a period of time.(reason for leaving, I moved to England)

Education:

I attended Henry Ford II High School, located in Sterling Heights, Michigan. While attending I took as many classes as possible that would benefit my career in the machining industry. I graduated on June 12, 1979and also know Master Cam (CAD/CAM) programming 9.1 for about 5 years.
