Welder
Weld metal parts or components together, using brazing, gas, or arc welding equipment.
Repair broken or cracked parts, fill holes and increase size of metal parts, using welding equipment.
Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead position. Clean or degrease parts, using wire brush, portable grinder, or chemical bath. Inspect finished workpiece for conformance to specifications. Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter, using hand scraper or power chipper, portable grinder, or arc-cutting equipment.
Position workpieces and clamps together or assemble in jigs or fixtures. Preheat workpiece, using hand torch or heating furnace. Ignite torch or start power supply and strike arc. Review layouts, blueprints, diagrams, or work orders in preparation for welding or cutting metal components.
1998 - 2002
Welder Apprentice (under supervision of experienced welder) Set-up and operated acetylene or electric arc welding equipment to heat and shape metals; lays out, cut and fitted materials for welds. Welded metal parts, pipelines, machinery, equipment, and other metal items. Removed and replaced pipe cover insulation in order to weld. Sharpened and tempered tools.
Repaired equipment requiring the use of lathe, drill press, milling and threading machines, and related machine tools.
Ordered supplies, completed forms, maintained records of completed jobs. Welded automotive and related equipment (i.e., brakes, hydraulic systems, transmissions, radiators, lights, etc.).
Drove vehicle to pick up and deliver personnel and materials. Assisted other crafts as required.
Performed related duties as required.
