Used SQL Server and Microsoft Access to import MS Project files and ShopVue data, and implemented COM to create Excel workbooks containing pivot tables/charts reports.

Created MS Access GUI for users to import MS Project files and create various Excel workbooks of pivot tables/charts.

Provided read-only queries for users.

Created MS Access routine that was called daily by a Windows scheduled task. The routine imported data from ShopVue’s SQL Server database, and loaded it into local SQL Server “report” database.

Created an application to transmogrify SQL Server and Oracle data, and export the results to Excel for statistical analysis.

Created GUI for users to choose the exam or exams they would like data for.

Excelsior College – Albany, NY

Removed Microsoft Access user security from a 2007 frontend. Instead, Windows authentication was implemented on their SQL Server to accomplish user permissions.

Removed Access user security and the required mdw file from the Access frontend.

Replaced the above Access security with Windows authentication on SQL Server.

Implemented role-based permissions and Windows authentication.

Assigned network users to a role.

Created VB code in Access to automate various tasks including setting permissions on SQL Server objects based on role, and creating database links in the Access frontend application.

Department of Environmental Conservation, Water Division – Albany, NY

Rewrote an Access frontend that was written in-house. Through multiple JAD sessions, determined the data to be collected and the functionality of the version 2 application, including reports. A report generator was designed for an often-used report that allows the users to determine the various criteria, sorting and grouping options on-the-fly. The application used Microsoft Access 2003 for the front-end and Oracle 10g for the data store.

Gathered requirements, coded, tested application.

Designed SQL Server 2005 database.

Parts Certification Database

January 2003 to April 2009

Anderson Instrument Co., Inc. – Fultonville, NY

Developed multi-user application that allows the user to test a finished part to ensure its within tolerance. Using a barcode scanner, the user scans-in the part model, and the program generates the data points used during testing. The program validates the user’s test values and, if the results are within tolerance, saves the data and creates a certification document to be shipped with the part. A separate component of the application uploads this data to the client’s website so customers can recreate the certification documents, as needed.

Anderson Instrument Co., Inc. – Fultonville, NY

Developed multi-user application used throughout a $20M manufacturing plant. Besides data entry and reporting functions, one component of this application emails automated reminders to customers; a second component uploads data to the client’s MySQL database used by their website. Data was analyzed by 6-Sigma Black belt.

Gathered requirements, coded, tested application.

Designed SQL Server 2000 database.

Created an automated, server-side email reminder system.
