Conducted inspections of licensed Wicomico County food facilities; conducted licensed swimming pool inspections; and, conducted pet store Psittacosis inspections, as required by COMAR regulations. Educated owners, operators and food workers regarding best practices for food safety, including sanitation of work areas and equipment. Provided guidance on HACCP plans. Inspected prospective adoptive and foster homes and issued reports to the requesting agencies. Obtained water samples from private wells and local swimming beaches and submitted these samples for laboratory testing. Received, interpreted and reported on findings of water sample tests. Investigated possible rabies exposures and conducted quarantines. Prepared and submitted rabies samples to the lab. Reported results of rabies testing and coordinated with the Communicable Disease Department to refer people for treatment.
