As the Budget Point of Contact (POC) for the Facilities Management Division, I assist the Director in the planning, developing, and coordination of the Division’s budget to control costs and expenditures. I monitor the use of all allocated funds expended for contracts, equipment, supplies, salaries, expenses, training, and travel. I review and consolidate the Division's operational budget to assist with the Division's overall financial plan and I make recommendations to the Director and other Division managers regarding reallocation of funds to meet changing budget restraints, operational activities and customer requirements. I maintained all the pools, checked chemicals and adjusted as needed. I hung drywall, finished and patched holes, and painted. I worked on plumbing problems, such as replacing toilets, sinks, faucets and drains. I cut out old cast iron pipes and replaced with them with PVC pipes. I did electrical work such as placing new BX cable and receptacles, switches and circuit breakers. I was a trouble shooter for problems like electrical shorts and grounds and repaired them. I worked on chiller systems, replacing fan motors, drip pans and associated electrical problems. I removed wet carpet, dried and replaced with new padding. I ran and trouble-shot telephone lines and cables. I interviewed prospective personnel and made hiring recommendations to the General Manager. I trained new workers on tools and their use in repairing the building, and on procedures on inspection and preventative maintenance of the main building and out buildings. I worked with my supervisor to insure that repairs were done as scheduled and as needed within the allowed budget. I met with the owners of the resort on a regular basis for planning of major repairs. I performed cost estimates and comparisons for all large repairs and analyzed the feasibility of future projects. March 2002-July 2002: Apprentice Flightline Specialist, Myrtle Beach International Airport

I checked in baggage, placed on carts and pulled to holding area when full. I used a tractor, called a mule, to move carts to airplanes, to unload baggage out of cargo holds, and to move baggage to pickup. I loaded baggage into the airplane holds, dumped sewage into tanks and flushed and refilled holding tanks.

I brought in the airplanes and backed them out. I worked as a member of a seven man team with a turn around time requirement of forty five minutes per airplane. Supervisor Larry Harris 843-***-****

November 2000 - August 2001: Outside Plant Engineer (Telecommunications), OSP Consultants

I designed the outside plant for telecommunications. I drew the plans and acquired “rights of way” for placement of telephone poles, cable, cross connect boxes, conduits and building terminals. I filed these rights of way at the court house and researched land owners at the court house records. I did all field work before and after the job was released. I staked the rights of way and placement of all structures.

December 1969 - November 1999 – Engineer Assistant, Verizon Telephone

My supervisor was Janie Srock 704-***-****).

I worked at Verizon for 30 years, beginning as a telephone installer, then telephone repairman, and cable splicer, before becoming an engineer assistant. As an engineer assistant my duties and responsibilities included oversight for new engineering assistants, including orientation sessions, training (formal as well as on-the-job training), personal protective equipment (procuring and proper usage), office policy and procedures, ensuring that they could read blueprints, and procuring work equipment and supplies. I interacted with state and local governmental officials, companies, and private citizens. A key aspect of my responsibility was to ensure that we were keenly aware of customer needs and concerns. I routinely had ad hoc discussions with customers and governmental officials to ensure that we were addressing their issues and concerns. I was responsible for settling complaints received during or after the start of work, which I did through face-to-face meetings with the complainants and by developing agreements to ensure a win/win solution. In addition, I developed, implemented, and administered complex project plans including identifying risk and risk mitigation strategies. I ensured that the design complied with all county and local codes and after completing project plans, I ordered the materials for the project. I interacted with the construction groups to ensure: a) quality of the project, b) that we stayed on schedule, c) that we remained within the budget, and d)overall customer satisfaction.

September 1969 -November 1999: Self employed (remodeling)

I remodeled kitchens, baths and recreation rooms. I removed old appliances, old plumbing, electrical wiring and drywall, and replaced them with new electric fixtures, plumbing and drywall. I replaced sub floors, then replaced wood or ceramic tile flooring. I met with the prospective clients to discuss their needs. I drew up design requirements, prepared cost estimates for building materials and presented contracts for approval.

March 1966 - September 1969 – Combat Soldier, U.S. Marine Corp.

I was trained as a combat soldier in Camp Le Jeune, North Carolina, before being deployed to Vietnam as a PFC. I was in a special group called CAC and we trained the Poplar Forces to protect themselves. I instructed the villagers on the use of small arms to protect themselves. I was awarded the Purple Heart in 1967 and became a Sargent in charge of the company office where I did all of the administrative record keeping. I was also an instructor of basic military procedures and during my last months in the Marine Corps, I was a cross country brig chaser, picking up prisoners from different locations and returning them to Camp LeJeune. I left the service having been promoted to E5.
