Serving in the role of Director of Human Resources for the Kent School District I was responsible for recruiting, hiring, training and maintaining the employment of our nearly 4,000 certificated and classified employees.

I worked with principals to ensure that they adhere to our evaluation timelines for our teaching staff, and I monitored evaluations and met with provisional teachers who were struggling with their performance.

As Director of Certificated Employees in the Elk Grove School District I assisted our 100+ principals and department supervisors with corrective action for misconduct, and I maintained meticulous records of misbehavior for all certificated and administrative personnel. I also assisted in our Uniform Complaint Procedures for all our 61 schools. I handled grievances, and I worked very closely with all the employee associations. I meet with the presidents of the associations on a regular basis, and assisted with negotiations. I also was responsible for training principals on the POET Evaluation Tool. As the Employee Relations Administrator for the Scottsdale Unified School District, I was the primary person responsible for employee issues, concerns and complaints. I have handled investigations for classified, certified and administrative employees. It was my primary job to make sure that the district follows our policies and procedures when dealing with employees.

I was responsible for the district’s Teacher Recognition Program and our Teacher Retirement Luncheon, and I facilitated both of these events. I worked very closely with our principals to assist them in evaluations, staffing, and transfers. I mentored all new principals, and I helped to establish the Scottsdale District’s Principal Mentor Program.

I also was responsible for updating the principals’ evaluation system, which contains a comprehensive rubric and correlates with the ISLLC Standards. I was involved with the updates of both the teacher evaluation instrument and the classified evaluation instrument.

I facilitated the Classified Meet and Confer process and the District’s Classified Liaison Committee. I was responsible for the Employee Recognition Program and Scottsdale Honors Its Own an employee recognition program that I helped to develop. I have provided a variety of training classes for assisting supervisors in addressing employee issues such as evaluations and improvement plans, misconduct and corrective action, employee assistance, “fit for duty,” workplace harassment, mediations, staff ethics, and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. Finally, I have had extensive training in building employee relations, and I am a former Dale Carnegie Course trainer with 10 years’ experience in implementing the Dale Carnegie Human Relations Principles. Along with my 30 years’ experience in education 23 years’ experience in administration and 7 years’ experience as a classroom teacher I believe that it is my extensive training in Dale Carnegie that sets me apart from other applicants. My extensive training in Dale Carnegie will be invaluable to me in my continued work in Human Resources. ORGANIZATIONS
