Piping Designer, Career Rookie

Kelly Engineering Resources US-WI-Brookfield Posted: 10/4/2016

Dear Centro Resources HR Professional;

My career experience and desired employment at this time seem to dovetail perfectly with your piping design position in Spartanburg, SC. Much of my over 25 years of experience has been in the field, as-builting and / or field-truthing systems. As a former recreational climber and mountaineer, I enjoy htracking down lines through units, racks, up towers, platforms, etciking, climbing, or whatever I have to do to access inline And every project I've worked required me to deal with flow sheets, P&ID's or PFD's.

I prefer field work. I have Many hours in a variety of refineries and plants as-builting and field-truthing existing drawings. In the environmental field, I was involved in characterizing various piping services, on the Flow Drawings initially, then in the field, for Benzene content, and consequently NESHAP requirements and ultimately LDAR testing. In 2014, I spent over 4 months on a BP site near Chicago, QA-QC'ing systems for Client turn-Over.

Dear Hiring Professional:

I have 25 years experience in Mechanical & Piping Design, including Petro-Chemical & Refinery, Environmental Engineering, Nat. Gas Pipeline, and Water Distribution. I have extensive experience with sub-meter Trimble GPS Units, performing: Field Gathering, Downloading, Correcting, Processing, and Mapping final GPS Data into ACAD.

Prepared as-built drawings for entire remediation systems for an active refinery in Kansas, a closed refinery in Wyoming, and a closed refinery in Illinois

Performed comprehensive mapping of site-wide utilities, remediation systems, and surface features for two large closed refineries and 2 small hazardous waste collection facilities. Gathered all GPS field data, post-processed, exported and converted the data to create geo-referenced ACADD maps, ready for insertion into a GIS

Environmental Design (Closed Refineries & Hazardous Waste Sites), EPA Report Drafting, Mapping (10yrs)

Geo-referenced mapping and cartography

Environmental report drafting and mapping

GPS field data collection, post processing, and mapping

Roadway drafting and design

I have worked for smaller mom-n-pop type companies where I was responsible for a much broader range of duties, to very large fortune 500 companies where I worked in a larger bureaucratic structure. I am very fluent and up-to-date in AutoCAD, CADWorx, and the associated verticals and add-ons. I excel at 3d Model Design and I have enjoyed learning that Outlook, Windows, Excel, Word, and some others can be very helpful tools in my work, even when I am in the field.

The immediacy of Field Work, Construction Support, and the physical challenge of site navigation are very appealing to me (As-Builting, Retro-Fits, QA-QC, Turn-Around, Construction Supervision, O&M interviews, etc.). Recently, on a BP Coker site still under active construction, I worked 60 - 70 hours/week, climbing and walking down systems for turn-over to our client.

I currently live in Utah, but I am able to relocate for a contract position on short notice.

Please do not hesitate to contact me via email or cell listed below.

Sincerely,

Dave Roolf
