Proven, dynamic engineer with over 15+ years of technical experience /strong problem-solving skill in the medical device manufacturing and in laser development/manufacturing/application. My strong technical and industry backed knowledge in the areas of DPSS Lasers (nanosecond and Ultrashort), both the development and manufacturing of these devices and my deep, hands on knowledge of the complete end to end manufacturing process, including development of devices for medical devices market. Professional Experience

Elixir Photonics Inc. 7/2015 to 9/2016

Principal Engineer

Responsible for the development of high power (>30 watts) diode-pumped solid-state picosecond for industrial applications in the medical device and consumer electronics markets. Also, responsible for the development of high power nanosecond UV lasers for semiconductor wafer dicing.

Project manager for high power UV laser: Demonstrated >20W UV laser in 6 months and delivered the first laser to customer

Optimized the fiber-based pico-second seed laser manufacturing process and significantly reduced the manufacturing time/cost

Nitinol Devices and Components Corporation 2009 – 6/2015 Staff Laser Processing Engineer

Responsible for the development of laser/manufacturing process of medical devices using different laser technologies that provided a profitable revenue to the company. Deep industry knowledge on the complete process of Nitinol medical devices, such as Desluging/deburring, Heat treat; Shape setting, Chemical polishing/etching, Electro-polishing, Passivation etc..

Certified Six Sigma Green Belt (April 2015, by NDC & LSSE, a Lean six sigma experts). First six sigma green belt certification project improved the yield of one product from 62% up to 84%.

Presented the “Advanced Nitinol Stent Laser Cutting Technology” at a company focused seminar. And provide training to NDC new engineers. Successfully introduced new laser technology into nitinol stent manufacturing.

Built NDC’s first ultrafast laser nitinol stent cutting system and established process knowledge and successfully demonstrated the world smallest nitinol medical device (0.25mm OD stent).

Managed & led all ultrafast laser cutting projects (for neurovascular Nitinol stent product development and manufacturing.

• Developed the laser cutting & desluging processes, including the working instruction (WI); workmanship standard (WS) and machine operation instruction (OI)

• Successfully transferring to manufacturing after IQ,OQ and PQ with high production yield (>85%)

• Managed 3 operators for neuro-stent manufacturing, including training, routine job assignment and mentoring.

Managed & led the development of one of NDC’s largest project: AAA stent (Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm)

• Proposed and introduced fiber laser technology into AAA project in 2011; Developed a cutting-on-the-fly laser processing. Reduced about 80% of the cutting time and thus saved company over million dollars on capital investment for mass production.

• Programed all 12 stents, developed different laser parameters set for different nitinol tubing size; Successfully trained and transferred to manufacturing after IQ, OQ and PQ. Now a key product for NDC with yield >90%

Software Experience: SmartCam (G-code) 5 years’ experience of programing for nitinol device. Minitab

Hardware Experience: Lasers (Lamp-pumped QS laser, IPG fiber; Coherent Talisker, Spectra-physics Spirit and Disk QS laser ) ; motion system (Aerotech motion system) and SEM

NanoGram Solar Corporation 2008 – 2009

Senior Laser Processing Engineer

Managed & developed the fiber laser processing system for Thin-film solar device fabrication by laser direct-write doping, annealing, patterning, and laser contact processing. Newport Corporation – Spectra Physics Lasers Division 2005 – 2008 Staff Laser Engineer

Member of the technical team focused on the development of laser sources aligned to meet customer expectations. Technical lead on the development of a diode-pumped solid-state, intracavity frequency tripled (355nm) Nd:YVO4 laser that is still in production - Tristar™. Provided production technical support across Spectra Physics complete line of Q-Switch lasers. Conducted laser performance and reliability testing on high power UV picosecond lasers to insure a successful product launch. Lightwave Electronics Corporation (Acquired by JDSU) 2000 – 2005 Laser & Optical R&D Engineer

Was key engineer on the development of a high power UV nanosecond laser, which at the time (2001) was a world record for intracavity frequency tripled (355nm) Nd:YAG laser. Responsible for the development of a number of frequency component that enabled high conversion efficiency second harmonic generation modules for fiber amplified Q-Switch green (532nm) and blue (457nm) lasers and picosecond UV (355nm) laser. Successfully developed and delivered an S-Band Erbium doped fiber amplifier and ASE source for optical telecommunications – was awarded 2 US Patents ( US 684492 and US 7054061)

University of Arizona – Ultrafast Laser Spectroscopy Laboratory 1997 – 2000 Research Scientist – Optical Science Center& Department of Chemistry Research focused on Picosecond Time Resolved Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy (PTR-CARS) on photoactive molecules.
