AIR, OCEAN and GROUND. And according to the regions there is a list of source systems. A number of source systems will update the ODS database with the statuses of the files shipped while a different set of source systems are connected with CVDB data store. GSU is the user interface for the ODS whereas Navigator stands as an interface for CVDB. Once the ODS is updated through e*Gate system, it will update the EDI table through corresponding e*Ways and will be passing the data through the bridge (IQs) so that the CVDB also get updated and anyone using the navigator, get the latest status from CVDB too. Similarly the files getting updated in CVDB will be passed through IQs in the bridge to update the ODS database so that the EDI table also receives the latest statuses. If one user has to send some shipments from one region to another, it can be done through a number of segments in which each of the transition is called the leg segments.

The project was challenging because of complexity, work volume, need of multiple technologies/expertise and historical interface knowledge. Key challenges are like - Integration of CEVA In House applications and provide communication and effective data transfers between them. Communication of data to External Carriers for performing actual logistics done through third party vendors (DESCARTES, TRAXON, GTNexus, etc.,)Standardizes the various types of input data and are stored into database for easy tracking and transformation purposes. Creation and management of various customer interfaces and their corresponding communication protocols. Customizing EDI Structures based on customer requirements. Transforming data from CEVA standards to Customer formats. Providing support to CEVA’s Customers on issues and clarifications.

General Motors, Detroit MI

Client Description: General Motor’s Data Center Transformation (DCT) for Toronto and Auburn

Hills locations initiative is to bring in-house global IT infrastructure and consolidate multiple sites to a single Technical Operations Center in Detroit. This will integrate and streamline all aspects of product development, manufacturing, marketing, sales and OnStar applications, to quicken up access provisioning to any GM employee across the world. Having a single nerve center for global operations will get newer vehicle designs and technologies into customers’ hands quicker and will improve the operational efficiency and provide better support to business strategy. The new GIF DCT servers are con-figured with much more space and are outperforming than current production. With this migration, all the servers will be brought to a common location (Warren) and will be equipped with enhanced performance. DCT Toronto Migration Project went through setup, migration and deployment schedule without impacting the business continuity.

GIF- Finalization of MGO Data and Integration (FMDI) May’2013 to Aug’2013

General Motors, Detroit MI

Client Description: FMDI was developed to replace the point-to-point model of information exchange for import/export orders. Currently FMDI is used by 16 downstream GM systems for exchange of vehicle information from the source Material Global Optimization (MGO) system. FMDI loads data from the MGO into the GIF ODS along with the target DATAMART tables in huge volumes. A set of interface and common functions that enable reusability and short lead-time for new downstream systems to the FMDI to enable MGO data exchange. As a part of Finalization of MGO Data and Integration, currently the plan is to redesign and deploy a new timely and reliable common standard process for the movement of Materials Global Optimization (MGO) data to Protection of Supply - Impact Analysis (POS-IA) System. The current Java Composite Application Platform Suite (JCAPS) tool has reached end of serviceable life and fails when data files exceed 2 GB size, requiring manual intervention and delays in data delivery. The objective of this project is to achieve higher quality and timeliness of the data, eliminate latency and quality issues which are impacting the future material availability and also to increase the current GIF SLA which is not met about 60% of the time and is causing customer satisfaction issues with the business customer.

GIF-Business Connect Feb’2013 to Aprl’2013

General Motors, Detroit, MI

Client Description: The Business Connect project is intended to implement one real time Web service interface to request information from CSIDS database based on the DUNS Number. The GIF services are developed in OSB 11g. CSIDS_Supplier is the OSB Service is used to call the Java Web Service. This service provides details about operations required for displaying Supplier data and is used to get Supplier information based on the DUNS Number selected. CSIDS_Supplier service invokes the Java Web service which provides the Supplier Information for the DUNS Number received in the request. To access this service operation the DUNS Number is a mandatory input to the service interface. Destination Service which is an Endpoint Proxy service receives the request. The request is then routed to the Core proxy service requested operation. The Core proxy service receives the input payload, deletes the security token from soap header and performs a validation check on the incoming soap payload. If the validation fails, it throws an error. The request along with the transaction data is then routed to the business service which then calls the target system. The business service routes the response generated from Target Service to the Core proxy service. The response is then passed to the Endpoint service. The Endpoint service receives the response and passes it to Consumer system.

If any fault is generated in between then the control goes to the service error handler and customized fault message is passed to the consumer system. In case of business error, the fault received from target system is passed as is to the calling system.

Role: Technical Lead

Responsibilities:

•As a tech lead, involved in interactions with client while requirement gathering, to convert business requirement to technical requirement.

•Implemented OSB service to send request and receive the response for the source Business Connect.

•Implemented the interface using Java which will populate the data based on the request received and send the response to the OSB service.

•Configured Oracle, SOAP external system for request and response with OSB service.

•Created File Adapter for reading comma separated flat files and Configured the Connection Factories for DB, AQ, FTP etc

•Worked on X-Queries/XSLT and Implemented generic Error handling Framework

•Configured and deployed application in various work environments like Development, Test, and Production.

•Configured and created JMS queues and Data sources.

•Set up Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) communication in the WebLogic Application Server.

GIF-MCVM/DPV Oct’2012 to Jan’2013

General Motors, Detroit, MI

Client Description: General Motors is engaged in the import/export of vehicles to and from a large number of countries, covering wide spread business relationships between regional GM organizations, suppliers and alliance partners. The preferred communication mode between a pair of Market and producer was to have a point to point interface, which requires lot of development at both the ends without any re-usability. For every new pair of import and export, the connection has to be developed from scratch. The GIF provides integration services and functions as a data hub for all process areas across GM globally to support business processes (see Exhibit 3 on the next page). It promotes agility, efficiency and facilitates reuse of information, thereby reducing the total cost of ownership. Integration is delivered in a consistent, manageable, reusable, and cost effective manner reducing point to point interfaces. This capability delivers Enterprise Application Integration (EAI), Extraction, Translation and Load (ETL) and SOA solutions for GM.

The objective of The MCVM (Mechanical Characterization Virtual Matching)/DPV (extend Dimensional Planning and Validation) is to separate the solenoids from the transmission electronic control module to achieve piece cost savings and greater design / package flexibility and to extend DPV to Include Supplier Data. As a result, mechanical characterization data will have to be transferred from solenoid supplier to GM for use in Power train, and vehicle assembly plants, to service operations seamlessly and reliably.

As part of this project, new GIF interfaces were developed to accept files through AS2 from Covisint/Denso to GM and sent receipt back. No transformation is expected at GIF layer.GIF ACE XML Gateways and AxwayInterchange along with Oracle Fusion Middleware (Oracle SOA Suite 11g) were used for integration and for secure data transmissions between external suppliers and MCVM/DPV systems.

Role: Application Lead

Responsibilities:
