Structural design highlights: Beginning at ALS Electronics, I was part of a team that developed heavy-duty shipboard racks for Aegis cruiser radar power supplies. At Whessoe-Varec, I designed crude oil storage tank appurtenance products (breather valves, level gauges, thief hatches, etc.). At Thermadyne, we designed plasma metal cutting products (power supplies and housings) for industrial and commercial use. At IFT and ITAN, I designed avionics equipment for commercial aircraft. At PESA, I designed telecom racks. At Teledyne-Brown, I worked with a team designing pressure vessels for classified military projects.

Electrical/electronic highlights: At most of these companies, I was involved in electronics design, ranging from PCB design to cables and harnesses to packaging and layout of electronic systems. Safety approval (FM, Cenelec, and UL) was often needed.

Engineering-related highlights: Usually integral to most organizations, my concept development and organizational skills often placed me in positions of management or mentoring. My reverence for documentation fidelity placed me in the realm of drafting, services, or team lead. I led teams at ALS, Varec, Synerdyne, Neurologic, Pesa, and CDI. I participated as a team member to develop standards at Synerdyne, Neurologic, and now at Boeing.

High degree of design knowledge for the whole design necessitated loan to Logistics Group, where my guidance in the creation of provisioning, technical, training, and repair manuals. Extensive customer-customized bills of material change tracking ensured quality and timeliness.

Helped design the doc-ctrl process for the company and maintained prototype / production documentation. Worked extensively with engineers and suppliers in the US and Europe to get accurate components, and with customers to deliver/install their system.

Mechanical Engineering:

I participated in the design of a frequency converter for the USMC. These projects included heavy welding, casting and sheet-metal design for harsh wartime environments. Personally designed and packaged several commercial products, including uninterruptible power supplies and computer peripherals. I participated in the selection of the company's CAD system and peripherals.

PCB Design and Engineering:

An offshoot of my drafting duties, I did all design here using tape & mylar. I gained experience and stature, and was eventually responsible for PCB design, supervising two other designers, as well as maintaining changes and new designs for military and commercial products.

Technical Writing:

A born writer, I independently undertook to write and illustrate a complete design procedure in 1983 to create schematics and PCBs using the company's new CAD system. Wrote and illustrated packaging guidelines for circuit board layouts for design consistency.
