Dance Bio:

I have danced for 27 years and counting. I started by attending Thomas G. Pullen Magnet Middle School, where I explored my other talents in piano, voice and flute. Next was Suitland High School (Visual and Performing Arts) as a VPA Dancer for four years, as well as Basu Dance and Pom Poms. Pursuing my dancing career further, I attended Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus in New York City! As a Dance Major student, the techniques I studied were? Ballet, Choreography, Graham, Modern, Yoga, Pilates, Limon and the Alexander technique and minored in Kinetics not to mention was in The Honors Program. After LIU I attended Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre?s ?The Ailey School? Independent Study Program taught by actual Original Ailey 1 performers. I also did their Residency Program when I was sixteen years old for 8 weeks.

Prior dance training was obtained through Dance Theatre of Harlem?s Residency Program for five years in Washington, DC. I took class, taught and choreographed at Marcellus Dance Studio and Diva Works Dance. At Diva Works I directed a summer dance camp for five consecutive years at Bladensburg Community Center. Taught Ballet, Jazz and Tap at Palmer Park Community Center and directed The Number One Finalist Diamond Dancers Competition Dance Group. I also instructed a Jazz/Pilates program at Bowie University for two years and taught Ballet/Tap, Jazz/Hip Hop and Dance Aerobics at The City of Seat Pleasant's Feggan Center as an after school and work program. Ballet/Tap and Hip Hop/Jazz at Elsie M. Brown School of the Arts. Co-Founder, Assistant Artistic Director, teacher and Choreographer for New Hope Academy's New Hope Youth Dance Company awarded High Silver in 2014 and Gold Place/ Most Energetic for my choreographic piece 'Hot Lunch' in the 2013 New York City Dance Alliance & Starquest Competitions. I also taught weekly classes in Ballet/Pointe, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap and Hip Hop for them.

Currently I am an Instructor, Choreographer and Founder of D?Amour School of Dance instructing Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Hip Hop, Tap, Pilates and Jazz. Founder of D?Amour Dance Youth Company who have one Regional and National Competitions, First place awards and acceptances to the Dance Theatre of Harlem Residency and The Debbie Allen Summer Intensive programs. Teacher, Costume Designer, Make-Up Artist and Choreographer for Starlite Dance Academy since 2012. Jazz and Ballet instructor for Ballet, Tap and All That Jazz for 3 years.

As a Dance Performer I was a member of Valerie Branch Dance Ensemble for the Young Audiences of Maryland, Soloist for DC Dance Theatre Company and for Arts Centric. I am CPR/AED Certified in all ages and believe that in order for one to accomplish their dreams they must believe in one self. I believe in my students to excel in life and I teach them to never give up until you have given 100%. A true dancer, dances from their heart.

As a mom of four amazing boys, I love teaching and kids are our future! I will always encourage the heart of dance!
