Objective

I am a dedicated licensed vocational nurse (LVN). I possess knowledge and skills from a variety of clinical settings which give me a broader scope of experience allowing me to be flexible in any given situation. I have developed a great deal of flexibility, working in the health care field, knowing that each person requires care tailored to meet their individual needs.

Using the clinical practice guidelines I learned within the LVN program, I am a reliable, ethical healthcare provider with the ability to make accurate assessments, provide appropriate referrals, identify emergent needs and stay calm in urgent situations. I am a team player who is able and ready to communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses and social workers. I am also highly motivated to work independently.

Known as a patient advocate and team player, I believe in empowering patients by delivering health education and care that enhances wellness and quality of life.

Work Experience

Licensed Vocational Nurse

11/2011 – 09/2014 Kaiser Permanente Pinole, CA 94564

My experience began in a temporary position offering influenza vaccines to all employees of Kaiser Permanente. I organized a cart with all necessary supplies to safely and effectively give vaccines in a variety of settings in the hospital. For employees who refused the vaccine, I offered a declination form so that all employees would be accounted for as receiving the vaccine or not.

My performance was exceptional and I was offered a permanent, part time position in the Pediatric Department administering vaccines to children from 2 months – 18 years old. I occasionally assisted the Family Medicine Department by administering vaccines and other medications to adult and pediatric clients.

09/2010 – 12/2010 Concentra Inc. Oakland, CA 94603

I travelled with a team to various companies and provided health screening to its employees. Health screenings included biometric measurements, (height, weight, waist circumference and BMI calculations), blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar checks, and appropriate education regarding results found, and administering influenza vaccines.

My ability to provide excellent customer service while providing appropriate nursing care in a timely manner, allowed me to be selected to perform hearing tests, in which I was required to do in less than three minutes.

10/2005 – 09/2010 Best Care Provider’s Hayward, CA 94545

Working with a nursing registry, at a variety of Telecare Corporation’s locations, I was responsible for providing care to psychiatric clients, ranging from clients born with mental delays, to those in an acute psychiatric state. I spent majority of my time working at Sausal Creek Outpatient Stabilization Clinic working with individuals experiencing acute psychiatric crisis. My role here as a Crisis Intervention Specialist was to perform an initial mental health assessment of persons seeking help, and to provide appropriate referrals to clients needing to maintain care initiated.

08/2010 – 09/2010 Kelly Services Walnut Creek, CA 94596

At UCSF Kidney Transplant Clinic, I was responsible for obtaining vitals of pre/post kidney surgery patients, medication reconciliation, prescription refills, medications authorizations, maintaining cleanliness of patient rooms, and restocking supplies needed by physicians and nurse practitioners.

11/2005 – 01/2008 Telecare Heritage Oakland, CA 94601

As a medication nurse, I was responsible for attending and collaborating with a multidisciplinary treatment team for up to 26 clients with a variety of psychiatric illnesses, obtaining clients’ vitals, administering medications, assessing and documenting effects of medications, conducting a medication group for clients, and administering emergency intramuscular medications, while maintaining the safety of clients and staff.

03/2005 – 10/2005 Clinton Convalescent Hospital

As charge nurse, I oversaw eight certified nurse’s assistants (CNA) who helped me provide care to forty-two elderly patients.
