OGDEN WELDING SYSTEMS – Schererville, IN 2006 – 08/2016

Machine Designer

Designed various barge and ship welding equipment and large plate handling equipment.

Designed specialty machines including:

oFitting/Forming Gantry for Cheetah Chassis (Semi Trailers)

oPlate Fairing Buggy for Newport News Shipbuilding

oRIG Test Fixture for Strick Trailers

Redesigned Magnet Bed and Stiffener Welder for significant manufacturing cost savings while maintaining or increasing machine performance.

Generated significant parts and labor cost savings in field installations by creating a complete panel line plumbing drawing.

Designed and supervised installation of special Stiffener Press/Welder and other panel line equipment at Northrop Grumman/Ingalls, Pascagoula.

Project Engineer

Designed and detailed machines and retrofits used to make beverage cans.

Delivered prototype Separator Sheet Cleaning Machine from concept to installation to satisfy customer quality demands and stop $40,000 annual back-charge.

Redesigned oil sealing gear guards for conversion of can necking process eliminating oil leakage problem in original conversion design.

Built wooden test stand to trial modifications to prototype machine, proving ideas for significant production increase.

Inventor of US Patent #6,698,265 B1 for Bridgeless Close Coupling Conversion saving $2 million in new equipment cost avoidance and plant floor space.

Winner of Crown Silver Award for Excellence and first recipient of Vice President’s “Defiance Award” for Separator Sheet Cleaning Machine Project.
