Game Designer/UI Artist Summer Intern, Ant Hive Games, Shanghai, China – 2014 Summer I worked on a fun and relaxing social card game called Give&Take with other talented members on the team. As a UI Designer, Asset Artist, Game Designer, and Programmer, I studied UI/UX design with experienced designers, designed UI mockups with animation and visual effects in Photoshop, and created UI in Unity. In addition, I participated in designing the gameplay mechanics and programming the gameplay loop using C# in Unity Game Engine.

Chief Editor Assistant, CK Washington Education Inc., Shanghai, China – 2013 Summer CK Washington publishes educational products such as books and videos for Asian children to learn English in a fun and relaxing environment. As an editor assistant, I assisted with content and graphics editing in Photoshop and Illustrator, audio editing in Audition, video taking, and communicating with outsourced actors and voice actors. In addition, I was also in charge of choreography for the videos with an emphasis on fun, active, interactive, and educational sense.

Moai 2016 - Unity3D Game Engine, C#, Blender, Photoshop, Illustrator, Windows, Mac OS

Sammy's Awards: Technical Achievement Award 3rd

Moai is a Senior Game Design studio game project that was developed over the course of five months by five members. Moai is a 3D exploration puzzle game with a beautiful procedurally-generated open world created with C# programming language in Unity3D. As the art director, artist, animator, a game designer and a programmer, I was in charge of deciding art direction, designing gameplay experiences and puzzles, creating all the assets and animations, designing UI controls, and participating in content programming. I also created two different types of animations: growing animations in Blender and ambient vertex animation with animated shader in Unity.

PaperCup 2016 - C#, Visual Studio, Photoshop, Windows, Mac OS Parallels Desktop

PaperCup is a small communication application made by three members. The program allows users to watch videos and listen to audio files together. The idea comes from me, an international exchange student, who always relies on communication Apps to keep in tough with friends and families from far and looks for better and more interactive ways to have fun with them. As a UI/UX designer, I made persona reports, created storyboard and wireframe in Photoshop, interviewed and collected information from potential users, made the original design of the application, participated in programming multiple functions like media player, chat functions, and UI, and run testing sessions.

TimeGap in the Mirror 2015 - Inform7, JavaScript, HTML, Photoshop, Windows, Mac OS

TimeGap in the Mirror is a suspicious interactive narrative adventure with a mysterious mirror and a handheld time machine made in Inform7 by two game design students. As the writer, artist, and a programmer, I designed and wrote the whole story, designed the interact-able elements, and participated in programming mechanics and functions and adding transcript in the game.

Technical TeL3Metry is a 2D platform puzzle game where the player plays as L3M, a cute robot who is involved in a series of testing levels to test his flipping and duplicating abilities. TTL was made by two UCSC game design students. As the artist, animator, and a programmer, I made environment art and assets in Photoshop and Pixen, created character animation in Photoshop and ASEPRITE, and participated in programming UI functions and mechanics with GML.

Crazy Egg 2014 - JavaScript, HTML5, MelonJS Engine, Photoshop, Windows, Mac OS

Crazy Egg is a 2D click-and-point platform puzzle game where the player creates a safe path for Eggy, our cute slow-walking character, to walk through by modifying the status or position of elements in the environment. Crazy Egg was made by four members. As the lead game designer, the artist, animator, lead level designer, and a programmer, I came up with the idea of the game, made major design decisions, created all the art, assets and animations, designed all the levels, and participated in programming mechanics, functions, and visual effects.

Ghostly 2015 Animation- Photoshop, After Effects, iMovie

Ghostly is a short storyboard animation about three cute ghosts with strong personalities outwit with a ghost exterminator. The project was made by five students. As the lead story artist, character designer, environment artist, storyboard artist and color artist, I wrote the story script, designed the four main characters and environment, created half of the storyboard, and participated in coloring scenes. All the concept art was done on paper and all the character design and storyboard art were made in Photoshop. Video editing was made in After Effects. I used iMovie to record and import audio.

Self Portrait 2015 Animation - Photoshop, Camera, After Effects

Self Portrait is a short animation about myself made with rotoscope technique. I recorded my motions with a camera, imported to Photoshop, traced keyframes, created in-between transitions with imagination, partially colored some content to emphasize the animated part, and import audio to the piece in After Effects.

TSUM TSUM Kitchen 2015 Animated Comics - Photoshop

Tsum Tsum Kitchen is an animated comics inspired by Disney characters, Tsum Tsums. The story is about four cute characters, Piglet, Pooh, Tigger, and Eeyore baking in the kitchen. Accidently, Piglet is kicked out and bouncing around with everything. Finally Piglet fell onto the shelf that is very high. Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, and Eeyore are trying together to save Piglet! I created storyboard on paper first and then imported to Photoshop and made animation and colors.
