PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

I have twenty-nine years of experience as a licensed LCSW working within the capacity of community liaison, team member, supervisor and coordinator. I have been involved in the delivery of direct counseling services in various settings including hospitals, The Division of Juvenile Justice and the private sector since 1980. All modalities have been utilized; inclusive, individual, group, family and marriage counseling. Brief family therapy, crisis intervention and collaboration on multidisciplinary team have been an integral part of this. A portion of my practice has been directed toward couples therapy, family therapy, direct application of Structuralist school of family therapy with dysfunctional families working with troubled adolescents, conduct disorders and working with younger children utilizing play therapy and art therapy.

I have over twenty years experience working with addictive disorders, dual diagnosis and eating disorders.

Twenty percent of my practice has been devoted to a gay and lesbian population also specializing in trauma particularly sexual trauma, sexual identity, sexual preference and sexual dysfunction. This work is often related to a history of sexual abuse or incest

I am adept at brief and extended family therapy models as a result of working with managed care as well as mood disorders, addictive disorders and dual diagnosis. An integral part of this work is working with anxiety/ PTSD, phobias and stress management, and crisis intervention-twenty-one years. Three years experience as an emergency room screener. Provided Supervisory and teaching to Masters level therapists working toward licensure.

I have also have substantial experience working with a geriatric population in a nursing home setting and partial hospital setting.

My approach is eclectic. I am comfortable and proficient in working with a variety of or combination of theoretical approaches including managed care.
