DEPUTY MEDICAL SUPERINTENDENT (DMS): Oversee operations in largest government hospital in Pakistan, a teaching/university hospital encompassing 650 patient beds and 44 specialties, serving children from birth through age 16. Manage a variety of emergency situations and disasters as a part of hospital management team. Monitor emergency department, indoor block (inpatient services for admitted patients), outdoor block (outpatient services), private ward, biomedical department, maintenance and building department, patient admission office, blood transfusion and laboratory services, hospital pharmacy and store, purchase department, finance department, accounts department and establishment division. Organize annual symposia; quarterly neonatal life support seminars, specialty seminars and clinical seminars; biweekly clinical/educational/skill workshops and clinico-pathological conferences (CPC); and daily morning meetings.
MANAGER, CONTINUOUS QUALITY IMPROVEMENT (CQI) PROGRAM: Coordinate and facilitate activities of quality improvement program throughout the hospital as a representative of Punjab Healthcare Commission, which sets health care standards and then inspects hospitals to determine how well they comply with those standards, especially regarding emergency work, labs, triage timelines, donor screening and blood banks. Identify quality indicators, collect and analyze data, develop and implement changes to improve service delivery and patient care. Continuously monitor activities to ensure that improvements are implemented and sustained.
KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
•In 2013, Children's Hospital and ICH scored 99.6% compliance level during inspection, the highest score by any hospital in Pakistan since standards were set in 2011.
•Selected by national government in 2013 as the first and, to date, only participant to attend hospital management courses in Japan.
•Developed 60-page manual of Punjab Healthcare Commission's Minimum Service Delivery Standards (MSDS) and CQI Policies and Procedures, illustrated by the Quality Improvement Plan for the Children's Hospital & Institute of Child Health.
•Addressed issues including access, assessment and continuity of care (AAC), care of patients(COP), management of medication (MOM), patient rights and education (PRE), hospital infection control (HIC), facility management and safety (FMS), human resource management (HRM) and Information Management System (IMS).
