Objective

I am looking for the opportunity to use my skills as a therapist to provide help and therapy to those in need of mental health services.

Experience

St. Johns River State College 08/2008-05/2016

I have taught Psychology, Human Growth and Development, along with Child Psychology for the past 9 years. I have used the textbook along with my notes and real life experience to educate the students, which are my consumers.

Flagler County Public Schools 03/2007-08/2008

I taught in various classrooms from Pre-Kindergarten to twelfth grade. I provided specific behavioral interventions when required with redirection.

Daniel Memorial 03/2006-08/2008

I worked as a therapist going into client’s homes and performing individual and family therapy through Department of Juvenile Justice. Provided treatment notes and other documents required by Daniel and the Justice system.

Hastings Youth Academy 10/2002-03/2006

Served as behavioral support for the school system in place at that time. I worked as a mental health therapist with clients that were remanded to a level six level eight Juvenile Justice Facility. I did intensive family session work putting in an infrastructure of behavioral interventions where there were none previously in place.

Worked collecting cable equipment as a contractor for AT and T. Looked for errors in the database. I researched outstanding accounts, and dispatched for disconnected subscribers. Also supplied much of the computer support, gathered information for payroll, acted as liaison to the client.

Counseled individuals from all age groups with mental or adjustment difficulties. Also ran domestic violence groups and anger management groups to both volunteer and court ordered individuals. Received training in child protective investigations through DCF. Typed summaries of abuse reports, calling for information concerning reports, and made contact calls to investigate reports from abuse registry.

ACT Clinician/Emergency Screener MHRC 08/2000-06/2001

As part of the Assertive Community Treatment Team, I went to identified high recidivism risk cases with dually diagnosed individuals going out into the community and into their homes to aid with medication compliance, on site counseling, problem solving skills, and enhanced efforts to coordinate with community organizations to keep the clients functioning without inpatient hospitalization. I preformed these tasks from August of 2000 to October of 2000 when I was transferred to Emergency Services. As a screener I performed complete bio-psychosocial assessments on children, adolescents, and adults alike that were brought in either a Baker Act or a voluntary basis for hospitalization. I interviewed the client, family members, and referral

agencies. I also checked insurance pre-certification and was involved in insurance authorization. All reports were formally typed up and entered as part of the patient’s clinical record.

Intern/Emergency Services Counselor/Recovery Center Counselor IV (Meridian) 08/1997-07/2000

I interned from August of 1997 to May of 1998 for Clinical Psychology Masters- worked 30 hours per week performing family counseling, providing counseling for children, group therapy, addictions counseling for both adults and adolescents, and performing bio-psychosocial evaluations for the Department of Juvenile Justice via contract and aided them in recommendations for treatment. I did short term counseling, family intervention and traveled to contracted areas. In March of 1999 to February of 2000 I counseled adolescent males ages 13-18 through DJJ and other agencies on a residential facility. Provided individual and group therapy, participated in administration of facility and in behavioral programs for residents.

Psychiatric Technician- North Florida Mental Health Center 06/1994-10/1995

Worked on a crisis stabilization unit (CSU) as a support for nursing staff. Supervised clients’ daily activities provided a safe, supportive environment for them to recover in. Also helped with crisis intervention, both through verbal and non-verbal intervention. Trained in ACT ABT, and CPI methods. Also registered clients in and performed safety inspections when needed.

Skills

I am well educated with a Masters in Clinical Psychology. I have pursued my Doctorate of Education and I have earned all but dissertation. I have fourteen years’ experience working as a clinician. I am well versed in many different types of therapy. I’ve run many educational groups in many areas and speak comfortably to both small and big groups’ alike. I can write, and am accomplished in technical writing, grant writing, and all the associated research that comes from such endeavors. I am also adept in statistics and research methods, and am very familiar with most statistical software. Along with those lines I am computer savvy, and feel very at home behind the keyboard.
