HEALTH SERVICES MANAGER

Health Services Manager with EverCare of Texas for over two years. In that time I have managed two departments, the Telephonic Service Coordination and the Precertification department. In both departments, I put in place standard operating procedures and developed processes that greatly improved productivity, cost effectiveness, and customer service. Designed and implemented the Disease Management program.

RESOURCE COORDINATOR

Resource Coordinator for the Texas Medicaid Enhanced Care Disease Management Program (McKesson Inc.) from November 2004 to September 2007. Provided care coordination and resource coordination support and classes for field based and telephonic disease management nurses. Provided care coordination for difficult and complex cases. and assessed the appropriateness of the treatment plans for pediatric, adult, and senior Medicaid recipients. Coordinated the activities of the multidisciplinary team members involved in the members’ care. Facilitated members’ access to state and community medical and social services. CASE MANAGER

Workers’ compensation Case Manager, November 1995 to August 2001. Provide bilingual, on site, rehabilitation case management services to injured workers for Corvel, Intracorp, CRA Managed Care and as an independent contractor for contracts with workers’ compensation insurance companies and employers. Assist injured workers to access healthcare and community resources in order to optimize treatment outcomes, expedite return to work, and reduce overall case costs. Provided continual assessment of the efficacy of the treatment plan and the workers’ rehabilitation progress.

ICU NURSE / CATH LAB NURSE

John Sealy Hospital, the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, October 1993 to August 1995. Nurse Clinician II in the cardiac catheterization laboratory and Coronary Care Unit. Also oriented and worked overtime in the Medical Intensive Care Unit, Surgical Intensive Care Unit, and Emergency Department.

ORTHOPEDIC OR NURSE / SURGICAL FIRST ASSISTANT

St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital, Houston, Texas, May 1993 to October 1993. Member of the orthopedic operating room surgical team with duties to include circulating nurse, scrub nurse, and surgical first assistant.

Operated intra-aortic balloon pumps, the Jarvik Total Artificial Heart, and left ventricular assist devices in both the intensive care and operating room environments. Also employed as a student nurse at The Methodist Hospital, Houston, Texas, December 1991 to May 1992, part time in the Cardiovascular Surgical Intensive Care unit and the Coronary Care Unit.

GREEN BERET MEDIC

U.S. Army Special Forces, July 1977 to May 1988. Proudly served with the 5th and 7th Special Forces Groups, and as an instructor with Special Forces Schools. Qualified as a Green Beret Medic and Weapons Specialist. Graduate of the Defense Language Institute, Spanish. Operated throughout Central and South America on various classified missions to include military adviser in El Salvador during the civil war and anti-drug and counter terrorist operations in Belize, Honduras, Colombia, and other locations. Organized and operated aid stations and clinics, managed medical coverage for large-scale field operations, trained and supervised medical and other military personnel.
