Elder Service Coordinator
Responsible for coordinating all aspects of the day-to-day operation of designed site. Serves as an advocate for the program, analyzing information and evaluates results to assist Tribal Community, guests and visitors in resolving program related conflicts Performs tasks and makes independent judgments within and supervises the work of assigned staff. Provides day-to-day site coordination and supervision of staff and facilities within the Elder Services Department. Serves as an advocate for the program; assisting Tribal Elders regarding any issues and concerns that they may have, and responding and resolving any problems. Performs administrative functions such as preparing reports, operations logs, and related documentation. Provides staff assistance to administrative superior, division or department head in specially assigned areas of operation; assists and advises on matters pertaining to programs or projects assigned. Analyzes information and evaluates results to assist the Community, guests and visitors in resolving program related conflicts. Makes program recommendations and interprets and disseminates policy to internal inquiries. Approves invoices for purchases, services, maintenance and other related expenses of Elder Services’ programs. Preparation of department’s annual budget. Review and monitor expenses. Coordinates the purchasing, maintenance and repairs of the Elder Services’ equipment. Establishes and maintains relationships with other agencies and departments within the Community to meet community’ needs and to ensure quality of the services provided. Collaborates with community-based organizations to ensure program strategic goals/objectives are accomplished. Attends community and staff meetings to promote upcoming program initiatives/services and receive community’s input. Participates in training and evaluative sessions provides technical/administrative knowledge to others through formal or informal training. Performs additional related duties as assigned.
E.S.O.L. at North Elementary School

Assist the professional staff in carrying out duties necessary to provide services to students. Assist instructional personnel with the development and presentation of learning materials and instructional services. Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce or follow up learning activities. Help students master instructional materials assigned by teacher. Assist in administering tests. Copy, file, answer phones, public relations, home visits. Translations of all materials into the Spanish/English language. Assist student in learning the English language to better understand classroom assignments and assist the teacher to better understand the child's needs. Assist the teacher in the classroom with daily instructional activities and student management. Worth with students in academic, assist the teacher in instructional functions, with classroom assignments, assist in translating from students native language to English. Assist the parents in communicating with the teachers and other school personnel. Attend afternoon meetings (PTO, workshops for parents, Retention meetings, and providing translations for non-English speaking parents. Accompany Principal/ Assistant Principal when transporting (sick) students to non-English speaking homes.
Emergency Room Clerk at Highlands Regional Hospital

Communicate effectively and courteously with co-workers, physicians, ancillary personnel, patients and their families. Only worked here during the summer months, held full time position in the Emergency room. Assisted physicians in all areas of the hospital when translations were required.

Answer phones, schedule patients with four different physicians for physicals, immunizations, blood work, pap smears, etc. Assist physicians, with vitals, lab work, urinalysis, immunizations, throat cultures, hearing tests. Prepare patients to be seen by physicians. Maintain/prepare rooms, sterilize equipment. Upkeep of medical records, immunizations, attends in service workshops, meetings, training and orientation.

Translation of monthly newsletters, letters of suspension, translations of all information from teachers for Spanish speaking parents. Meeting with parents and supply them with information of available services through the school. Distribution of leaflets in reference to: homework, peer pressure, etc.

Informing parents of students excused and unexcused absences via mail and Phone Master system (computerized home calling system.) Translating English to Spanish, Spanish to English.
