Experience Summary in Detail

I was the Chairman of the Board briefly at Addiction LLC,. In St. Joseph, MO. I am a member of the Missouri Drug Court Association, I belong to the American Counseling Society, I served on the crisis team at Swope Health Services and carried a pager for about a year, I have worked with a huge variety of populations and disorders. I am certified to teach Trauma First Aid, supervise Substance Abuse Counselors for their CSAC, now CRADC certification. I have taught two episodes of a customer service improvement program six hours weekly for two six week sessions instituted by management. The program required two weeks of training. I have taught Trauma First AID as well as many in services. I have managed as many as 15 people at the Department of corrections instituting two programs and developing the majority of the “Re entry Program” for short time offenders under very stressful and difficult circumstances as the interim Program Manager. I drove 65 minutes each way each day for over a year. I have developed three substance abuse programs from scratch, wrote the policy, and the curriculum. I was certified to serve as a Ryan White HIV case manager. I have been through the Therapeutic Community Training (in vivo) twice and had 3 weeks of the “Mind of Matter Corrective Thinking” training with David Koerner and Rogie A. Spoon as well as Dr. Samenow’s and Dr. Yochelson’s

“Thinking Errors” training. I have attended hundreds of hours of CEU training's on most all topics associated with mental health and substance abuse treatment over the years. Practiced all aspects of substance abuse counseling including the 12 core functions including group counseling, individual counseling, substance abuse assessment, treatment planning, case management, discharge planning, etc. I utilized mostly cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing to help clients understand that they can change and that a responsible life style is more gratifying then an addictive lifestyle. Educated clients on stress reduction, mood stabilization, the addictive and recovery processes, socialization and a myriad of educational topics and group process. I 4

established excellent rapport in the vast majority of my cases, set appropriate boundaries convinced clients that I would be honest with them and was trustworthy. Had good results in the vast majority of my caseload as I have in all my work. Most of my clients improved their ability to reduce or completely maintain abstinence from mood altering substances, and increased selfawareness,

personal integrity, selfesteem

and a socially responsible

behavior.
