Lead Mechanical Engineer: Robotic Suction Cleaners
'Seed to Flower' product design responsibility for products, components, systems and sub-systems for the robotic suction side pool cleaner business of Hayward. Working globally and cross-functionally with a wide variety of organizations, and engineering disciplines to assure the highest level of design quality, integrity and performance. Serve as mentor to junior engineers, while executing personal respective responsibilities with a minimum of supervision and with strict adherence to all company policies and procedures. A key technical leadership position for the company.
Played key role in the integration of the newly acquired Poolvergnuegen Product line post acquisition to internal Hayward production facility ensuring no business interruption on strict timeline.
Designed new product line based off of the Poolvergnuegen platform to improve company market share in the robotic suction cleaner market.
Led the development of new IP protected internal main turbine and A-frame assembly to improve reliability and performance of existing product. Release in customer kit form and as a new cleaner product line.

Aircraft seating products
Project Engineer: Minipod Premium Business Class Seating
Managed a team of mechanical engineers to successfully design and release new customer seating products for aircraft carriers Boeing and Airbus. Design included a variety of parts including vacuum formed, pressure formed and injected molded plastics, machined parts, sheet metal, and electrical components. Worked in a team environment with customers to position seats in specified aircraft to obtain maximum capacity while maintaining critical clearances. Worked in conjunction with Certification and FEA group to complete all required testing from structural testing to flammability testing to meet FAA requirements as well as Air Framer cycle and abuse load testing to ensure on time delivery of the product.
Project leadership resulted in release of newly designed business class seats:
oAir China 777 Retrofit, THAI Airways, and United Diamond series business class seats.
oQatar Airlines new B787 and A380 Super Diamond series business class seats.

Developed new use of software for a new release procedure for all projects to improve quality.
Drove cost reduction for Qatar airlines program, cutting $2000 per seat from one sub-assembly utilizing more cost efficient methods and materials.
Refurbished British Airways current B767 seats with new in-flight entertainment systems. Program was finished 4 months ahead of schedule and under budget.
Selected as liaison between Design Engineering and Certification Engineering to assist Certification with outsourcing and overflow control.

Created safe, reliable, cost effective products to ensure the safety of school children globally while utilizing the most current technology available to increase efficiency and reduce production costs. Worked with a cross functional team with members from every business segment for design inputs to ensure a low cost, high quality, manufacturing friendly design. Oversaw designers and drafters of machined, sheet metal, and vacuum formed plastic parts. Worked closely with prototype shop and test lab to prototype and test designs thru cycle tests, structural test, environmental conditions tests and durability tests.
Lead Engineer on a $2 million redesign project for the C2 entrance door and mechanisms.
oFirst project to fully implement the Gate release process.
oAppointed cross functional team members for this project.
oCut $100 per unit by redesign and simplification of door operating mechanisms.
oOnline assembly time reduction from 45 minutes to less than 15 minutes
Hand-picked to lead and supervise engineering sub-team chartered to design and commercialize a $120 million creation of new product line with superior driver ergonomics, cutting edge assembly methods and overall increase in product reliability and quality. This successful project was the largest project in company history.
One of three Engineers chosen to develop a new Transit product facelift project. First product redesign to utilize in-house industrial designer and specific focus on turning radius, driver ergonomics, driver visibility and passenger boarding safety.
