Senior Contract Manager; Work on behalf of 13 hospitals to negotiate and finalize contracts for hospital supplies and services. Responsible for identifying opportunities, sourcing vendors, requesting proposals and negotiating contracts in a professional and ethical manner. A staff member of the Corporate Sustainability Group, a component of the Corporate Strategic Initiative. Designated as a “Model” of service excellence. Collect, compile and analyze data to identify targets of cost savings, sustainable opportunity, and potential process improvement. Utilize third party Group Purchasing Agencies, benchmarking tools and contracting software. Work with all levels of the organization to plan, implement and measure improvement projects. Conduct vendor assessments, Requests for Proposal, mitigate end user /vendor conflict and sign all contracts. Worked closely with the On The Move Committee to contract with various vendors in the construction of a new 14 floor office space at Assembly Row in Sommerville.

Accomplishments Included:

Achieved hard cost savings, of $16 Million over 9 years.

Managed $165 million in spend with over 100 vendors.

Renegotiated $25 million annual linen agreement, held by one vendor, to achieve savings, process improvement and improved customer service.

Participated in the Healthy Hospital Initiative a group of 9 Hospitals around the country and non-profit environmental groups with the goal of moving the Medical Industry towards Sustainability.

Created corporate awareness of waste management by championing an Integrated Waste Program resulting in cost savings, improved compliance, waste reclassification and recycling, one bin recycling, waste management reporting and improved waste management.

Expanded vendor standardization and identified Environmentally Preferred Purchasing partners; successfully moved document shredding business to a single vendor resulting in cost savings and improved compliance.

Negotiated best in class Regulated Medical Waste Pricing resulting in over $900,000.00 in savings per year over three years.

Restructured Partners Wide agreements for Portable Oxygen to eliminate all portable gas canister rentals resulting in a $195,000.00 annual cost savings.

Established and presented a strategic vision for capturing $5 M in savings for 2014; have executed the plan to achieve significant savings.

Job Responsibilities:

Developed, negotiated and executed major multi-year, multi-million dollar agreements for the Partners System in accordance with accepted strategies and plans. Incorporate Environmentally Preferred Purchasing standards and identify opportunities to “go Green” while saving money.

Work closely with clinicians, managers, directors and peers to develop and operationalize contracts with major manufacturers and distributors to improve sustainability, reduce costs, eliminate inventory redundancy, improve upon supply chain processes and manage resources within the system.

Consult with leaders and management throughout the Partners system to provide expert advice regarding contracting, marketplace conditions and promote environmentally preferred purchasing.

Monitor all agreements to guarantee supplier obligations are met, rebates and incentives are earned and that contract and pricing expiration dates are implemented and met.

Support and implement new programs occurring hospital wide including Corporate Sustainability and Environmentally Preferred Purchasing, the Transcription Security ISP Protocols, Spaulding Hospitals acquisition and standardization, standardize furniture selection, corporate wide Integrated Waste Stream Management and service excellence.

Utilize GPO contracting relationships to enhance value to participating members.

Understands industry trends and opportunities and reassess agreements as needed, to ensure Partners maintains its leadership position in the marketplace.

Provides input to Corporate Manager of Corporate Contracts and other Senior Management on a number of issues including strategic direction for contracts department, marketplace trends and GPO movement.
