Enterprise Portfolio Management System (EPS)

Enterprise Portfolio Management system project involved consolidation of the technical, application and system landscape in line with client’s objective of simplification. Managed a large team of ETL, BO, Spotfire, Golden Source Developers, Project leads. As a project manager, performed project management activities. Planned, Architected, designed and developed new technical solutions. Controlled the overall project direction, progress and plans. Provided radically new way of processing highly normalized and heavy XML feeds using Oracle’s XML Query features.

Global Performance and Analytics (Phase I and II)

The project involved changes to the investment performance calculation engine. Performed project management, led a team of ETL/BO developers and team leads. Performed Architecture of ETL and DB, data analysis, designing and collaborating with client and vendor stakeholders. Provided creative ideas to enhance the performance and better the existing ETLs to increase the standards of Data Quality and accuracy.

Client Web Portal Redesign

The web portal redesign project required facilitation of client reports over the web for a direct interfacing with the customers. Re-platforming Datawarehouse to EXADATA

The project involved moving the Datawarehouse from a traditional Oracle RDBMS to an Exadata platform. Performed planning, designing, and Proof of Concept of Exadata implementation. Redesigned and tuned the performance of ETLs and SQLs. This project saw almost every interface being analyzed and identified, viz. the BO reports, dashboards and ETL interfaces that had to be migrated to conform to use Exadata features and/or mitigate Query Plan failures (EXPLAIN PLAN).

TIBCO Spotfire Implementation for Data Visualization enhancements

The project involved enterprise-wide implementation of Spotfire as a reporting tool to provide more dynamism to reporting and user interfaces. I was involved in managing the team of Spotfire Developers for the implementation of this project. Provided technical support and ideas to structure queries and provide tuning approaches for faster data retrieval.

Cash Flows

The project required modelling of Datawarehouse tables and design and develop ETLs to procure, transform and load the data pertaining to cash flow information. Managed the project, leading a team of ETL/BO developers, perform data analysis, design and architecting the ETL interfaces.

Consolidation of Business Objects Universes

With a focus towards Simplification, this project catered to the consolidation and reduction of overall Business Objects universes to < 50%. Project involved re-designing the universes and re-writing the reports. I was involved in overseeing the project and also collaborating with the BO team to prescribe efficient design, join conditions and grain of data

BI ETL Process Re-architecture

I proposed this project to the client for initiation to re-architect the ETL processes to simplify and most importantly bring the load cycle intervals to an acceptable and consistent range. I drew up design considerations and the phases in which each targeted area shall be addressed. The whole project involved performance tuning of ETLs, SQLs, leverage advanced features provided by Oracle and Informatica in the load processes. Close to 80% of ETLs were re-written and a successful reduction of load cycle by ~70% was achieved.

Enhancement to Master Data Management (Golden Source)

Managed the successful implementation of various Data and Data model enhancements needed by Business.

Proof of Concept and Evaluation of Data Services

There are many consumers of data from the Datawarehouse and a need was felt to provide the interface as a service. The objective of this project was to select a tool that would provide a standardized and decoupled interface, ease of data delivery, complexity in configuration, administration requirements and customizable features. The project involved evaluation of products like Informatica Data services and Composite. I was involved in the evaluation of the product and noting and providing feedback to the customer.

Project LAFARGE Inc. was the major in the Building and Construction Materials sector. They used J.D. Edwards, an ERP system, to maintain the financial accounts. They also have another tool over Oracle database, which oversees the Costing transactions of the company. The project involved creating a common Datawarehouse for all the source systems and then creating various Datamarts out of it, catering to various departmental needs.

I managed, designed, developed ETL interfaces to extract the ERP data and feed into Datawarehouse. Cognos came up with a tailored product called eApps for JD Edwards (which was a Beta product) and I performed the POC on that product. Based on my recommendations, findings and test results, the product matured and released as RTM 1.0. I also developed Cognos Cubes and Business Objects/Web Intelligence reports for data visualization out of the Datawarehouse.
