Performed routine (2 year) bridge inspections of steel and concrete superstructures to assure integrity and Public Safety.

Documentation and dimensional inspection of good/fair/poor conditions present on Bridge decks, structures and substructures in accordance with Federal requirements using the Wigins Program.

Duties include performing shop inspection in a Quality Assurance role verifying the company Quality Control is following the certified quality program for fabricating and coating steel bridges and assemblies. Most company certifications are to American Institute of Steel Construction and the Sophisticated Paint Endorsement or the QP3 program for coatings; Coatings inspection including wet mils, dry mils, blast cleanliness, profile and environmental conditions verification in shop and in the field; Visual weld inspection in the shop and in the field; Ultrasonic, Magnetic Particle, Dye Penetrant weld testing in the shop and steel bridge rehabs by contractors and our bridge maintenance; Radiographic Film interpretation for steel bridge girder weld splicing; perform galvanizing and metallizing inspection and testing in shop and field; perform High Strength Bolt sampling, testing and Certification verification; perform paint sampling; perform Material Test Report Verification of chemical compositions and Destructive Testing requirements; maintain job files for each project by reviewing MTR's, NDT reports, shop drawings and Quality Control documents to assure they are in accordance with QC Procedures; perform Welding Procedure, Procedure Qualification. Welder Qualification review in accordance with the American Welding Society code; very familiar with NCDOT Standards and Specifications; very familiar with several ASTM Standards.
