PERSONAL INTERESTS: Nursing is a second career for me. It was through patient contact in my job in clinical research that I learned about some of the gaps in health care, and decided that I wanted to help people bridge those gaps. I like direct patient care, but also like the challenge helping people get services that I can’t provide. I also like helping people make good decisions about their health, and I try to follow my own advice by staying active. I work out at home and at the YMCA 3-4 times a week (weight training, aerobics, swimming). I enjoy hiking and orienteering (a map and compass sport), and I’m currently learning how to prepare maps for our local orienteering meets. I enjoy and teach Scottish Country Dancing. I like to ski (downhill and cross-country). I play the hammered dulcimer and I’m learning to play the ukulele. I travel often to visit family and friends.
