SAP RFID AII: KANBAN & Container Management (12/2008- Ongoing Project)

RFID Technology brings new levels of precision to process control and the tracking of containers and returnable packaging. SAP RFID technology provides complete process support for capturing and handling RFID data, streamlining and automating the supply chain process and integrating RFID information into Enterprise system using SAP Auto-Id Infrastructure.

By enabling OEM, Suppliers, partners and other players in the Supply Chain management to identify and track the container location, contents and condition, the RFID helps the company to minimize the operating cost, improving the asset management and service performance.

Solutions Provided:

1.In integrated outbound scenario, a delivery was created and fulfilled with one pallet and two cases.

2.After scanning the information was processed in R/3, PI and AII Systems.

3.The communication between R/3 and PI weres IDoc based, but PI and AII were XML message based.

4.EPC were created for Pallet (Handling unit) and Cases (Sales Unit)

5.Pallet and Cases were packed and outbound delivery document in R/3 system was updated.

6.Assigned Delivery to a Mobile RFID Device. After Picking, the warehouse worker scanned all picked cases and pallets with a handheld RFID device.

7.Based on the assignment between the scanning device and document delivery, the system got the information that the sent EPCs of particular goods were fulfilling the particular delivery by a worker scanned the EPCs

8.Performed packing Activity. A fixed gate reader at the pack station or packing was achieved when a worker scanned the EPCs of the sales and the handling units.

9.AII checked EPC – conformance and performed hierarchy build. Once the goods were scanned, the corresponding EPC’s were transferred from mobile device to AII. AII stored the pallet and case EPC data. AII transferred the data to PI and from PI Idocs were sent to R/3 to update the system.

Phase – 1 Migration Project SAP HR 4.6C to SAP HR 4.7

The existing SAP HR 4.6C with ORACLE 8 System was migrated to SAP R 4.7 Enterprise Edition with ORACLE 9. Selection of hardware and software suitable for migration processes, plan of pre-migration tasks list, migration day tasks list, and post-migration activities, back up and back out procedures, setting up of business continuity plan to keep MTTR within 3 days were major challenges.

Phase – 2 SHINE & CA-DMS Application

Installed and configured the cross application module CA-DMS with the SAP HR module. All the hard copies of HR records have been segregated, digitized, classified and uploaded into the SAP Content Server using SAP Data Bulk upload tool. User Interfaces SAP Easy Document Management system – the desktop client and the web documents – the web client have been configured and tested.

Project Description

Phase – 1 BP Cherry Point Refinery – Oct 2002 -

System Study & Analysis process commenced on October 2002 at BP Cherry Point Refinery and SAIC Huntsville USA. BP Cherry point site assessment report was developed by SAIC and Satyam to provide BP with an assessment and objective findings to support preparation of an RFP for the purpose of entering the execute phase of installing a Documentum EDMS system. This assessment reviewed the Cherry Point document practices in regards to engineering drawing management for both design and vendor drawings. After review, the project team assembled interview notes and findings and provided the BP management with findings and recommendations.

Phase – 2 BP Cross Stream KT – Mar 2003 -

Knowledge transfer (KT) process initiated on March 2003 at Naperville US and Aberdeen Scotland for 15 exiting Documentum Applications in the US and 3 from the UK. Both the functional and technical designs were discussed and analyzed to provide maintenance support from the Satyam Hyderabad offshore team. Risk and mitigation process were identified and the team prepared the Maintenance Methodology Document.

Phase – 3 BP ASM Project – June 2003 -

24 x 7 Maintenance Support Service was extended to all Eighteen Documentum Application users with effect from 8th April 2003 by the offshore team. The entire system reached the steady state on 1st June 2003.
