Responsible for overseeing of the medical records departments located inside of all of the 28 correctional facilities located in the state of Arkansas.

Protects the privacy and confidentiality of patient health information.

Assures that all processes and procedures are well documented and followed in order to assure that the health information of all inmates are accessible and readily available when needed by healthcare providers, attorneys and/or Social Security Administration.

Assist with the implementation and management of the electronic health record system.

Provides assistance to the Arkansas Department of Correction Administrator of Medical and Dental Services with revising the Arkansas Department of Correction Medical & Dental Services Division Operational Policy/Procedure (800.00).

Provides policy related and procedural guidance to Medical Record Clerks, Health Service Administrators and others with responsibilities related to inmate healthcare and/or inmate deaths.

Communicates with corporate legal team in the event of an inmate death, assuring that death records and other related documents are properly processed and provided to them.

Develops training manuals and provides training to health information management staff, ward clerks and other medical staff as needed.

Perform audits of health information management functions at all facilities within the state and also performs medical coding to meet Health Department required reporting.

Participates in various committees that are vital to regulatory compliance and to the enhancement of health programs within the correctional environment.

Attend meetings, as necessary.

Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, training and evaluating Medical Records staff.

Acts as Privacy Officer and perform other duties as assigned.
