Undergraduate:
Maintained an exemplary GPA in the field of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences; graduated with honors.
Excelled in courses such as Psychopharmacology, Biopsychology, Cognitive Psychology, and Developmental Psychology.
Interest in previous courses cultivated a desire to pursue a career focused on the effects of pharmaceuticals on the brain and cognitive behavior.
Graduate:
Appointed as a graduate assistant from Fall 2012 to Spring 2014. Duties included assisting various professors with research, data entry, and literature reviews. Administrative tasks, such as inputting student grades, making copies of exams, and organizing documents were also performed daily.
Maintained a high GPA throughout graduate school, while working part-time as both a graduate assistant and also working part-time at Paoli Hospital.
Specifically selected and excelled in courses relevant to neuroscience, including Biopsychology Seminar, Abnormal Psychology, and Learning and Behavior.
Thesis directly addressed alcohol consumption and alcohol’s adverse effects on sleep patterns across the transition to college, with an emphasis on both neurological and psychological repercussions of excessive alcohol intake.
Research Experience
Undergraduate:
Conducted field research on the effects of exercise on memory performance under the supervision of the head of the Psychology Committee of the University; this included initial participant recruitment, correspondence, and scheduling, pre-experiment screening and eligibility analysis; facilitated the research process and conducted statistical data analysis as well as necessary participant debriefings and follow-up.
Received the 2011 Research Achievement Award from the Department of Psychology of West Chester University.
Presented the research and statistical findings at the annual Association for Psychological Science Convention in Washington D. C. in May, 2011. Also presented the research at West Chester University’s annual Psychology Research Day for fellow students and professors.
Graduate:
Assisted in the recruitment of participants and the facilitation of data collection procedures as part of graduate assistant responsibilities and a research-accredited course.
Presented findings at West Chester University’s Annual Psychology Research Day in Spring, 2013.
Presented those same findings at the Psychonomic Society Convention in Toronto, Canada, in November, 2013. Poster was entitled “Can Mental Imagery of Natural Environments Restore Directed Attention?” and was published in the Abstracts of the Psychonomic Society Book (Volume 18).
Conducted a literature review, data collection, statistical analyses, and defense as part of the thesis process. Thesis was fully completed in March, 2015.
