Interests

As an environmental scientist my passion lies in making sure that sustainable development is practiced and that productivity is being maximized. My focus lies in thinking out of the box and finding new solutions to deal with challenges. I believe in a balance between being sustainable and being able to develop. I am still fairly new in the field of Environmental Management/Sciences but I am a very quick learner. My personal attributes include being good at working and making decisions under pressure as well as being calm and composed. I can make decisions independently but also work well in a team. I am interested in environmental officer work, or similar. I do not mind traveling and I am always up for a challenge. I am very hardworking and committed person and think that I can be of benefit as an Environmental officer.

Qualifications:

BSc Honours in Environmental Sciences and Management, University of Pretoria, focusing on the effects of land use change on water quality (2015)

Reading towards MSc in Environmental Sciences and Management, including a full dissertation (no course work), North-West University (2016-2018)

Project description : Environmental Site Assessment (Phase I, Phase II and Phase 1.5)

Retail service station and commercial site soil investigation and groundwater/phase separated hydrocarbon monitoring for site closure.

Phase I, Phase II and Phase 1.5 report compilation and emergency intervention.

Summary of duties : Environmental site assessments (Phase I, Phase II and Phase 1.5) including:

Conducting of a phase I environmental site assessments in order to observe and document the operation and release history (land contamination) of the site and immediate surrounding areas as they pertain to human health, and Page 3

environmental and safety exposure risk, including interviews with the site operator regarding current and past practices.

Compilation of a site-specific health and safety plan.

Conducting of a ground-penetrating radar survey to locate any subsurface utilities in the vicinity of the proposed drilling locations.

Drilling team supervision (heath and safety representative on site).

Drilling of boreholes (installation of on-site monitoring wells).

Soil vapour assessment of drilled soil cuttings with a photo ionisation detector.

Collecting of groundwater samples and doing assessment for phase separated hydrocarbons in the installed monitoring wells.

Hydrocensus surveys.

Preparation of phase I, phase II and phase 1.5 environmental site assessment reports and documentation of the assessment results.
