Purpose

Home Confinement/GPS (Armed) Unit
Duties: Responsible for monitoring operations and staff assigned to both the Domestic Violence Unit and the Home Confinement/GPS Unit. Specific duties include: scheduling and monitoring staff, reviewing and evaluating staff performance; completing all training required; identifying staff’s training needs; providing training, guidance, counseling, and, if needed, recommending and delivering corrective action to staff for deficient or delinquent performance and/or policy and procedure infractions; working to maintain employee relations; undertaking activities to achieve employee development; completing field work to address issues that might arise; accompanying staff when needed, working to ensure defendant compliance with order of protection conditions; fitting offenders with the GPS device (as well as removing) while in the field, office or courthouse; and interfacing with offenders, their families, victims, community members, law enforcement personnel, the judiciary, and personnel from other agencies.
Other duties included: Complete data entry, create and maintain records and reports; respond to calls from specified units. Conducting and participating in staff, unit and Department meetings; running group meetings; representing the Department at meetings with various agencies to discuss topics relating to domestic violence; auditing Department records; reviewing and approving documents for court; appearing in court when necessary; and working with domestic violence contracts.
Outstanding Achievements: Cook County Superior Public Service Award – 1997.
Qualifications: Certification in the 40 Hour Batterers Intervention Program;
Certification in the Partner Abuse Intervention Program (PAIP);
