Experience

Action Resources, Inc. – Franchise Controller, May 2012 to current

Controller for an $85M Trucking company. I am responsible for the financial reporting to our parent. I communicate and explain those financials to our General Manager. I supervise and audit the daily functions and financials of 16 trucking terminals. I review terminal and owner contracts for accuracy. I am responsible for month end processing, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, cash flow statements, budgets and profit/loss statements with strict regard to GAAP. I am responsible for capital projects, capital leases, I supervise ADP payroll and write/record the J/E to record that payroll into our current ERP. I am responsible for internal controls, ensuring they are established and followed. I promptly comply with audit requests from PwC, certifying the information is accurate and timely. I supervise payroll, credit/collections, billing and accounts payable departments. I oversee the implementation of purchase agreements and seller notes, to assure accurate accounting and reporting.

Results: Onboarding and managing 16 trucking terminals in South Texas. Increased revenues from $45M to $85M in two years.

Air Assurance – Controller, April 2011 to May 2012

Controller of an $8M company, forecast/monitor investments & cash position, supply managers with accurate financials, implemented internal controls to protect our company, moved payroll in-house saving $20,000/year, collected over 70% of over 90 day receivables via small claims, monitor operational costs and enforce saving opportunities at every level, approve cash disbursements, supervise accounting, purchasing and warehouse staff and improved company moral with my positive attitude. Results: Found $20K in health insurance overpayments and collected them back from carrier. Increased cash holdings by 300% by monitoring spending and collecting past due accounts First profitable February in Heating/Air in 4 years.

City of Siloam Springs – Manager of Accounting & Financial Reporting 2000 – 2011

Responsible for all GL functions, journal entries, month-end processing, budget, report writing, payroll, quarterly and year-end 941’s and W2’s, SUTA, training new employees in all modules, system security, oversee A/R (utility office revenue of $40M annually) and A/P, capitalization and depreciation of fixed assets, inventory control, building permits, license & permits, set up departmental services, proficient in all finance modules. I manage a staff of 11.5 accounting and IT employees. I meet with department heads on their budget/financial statements quarterly and prepare the annual budget. I have a close working relationship with our auditors and comply with all audit requests, and prepare PBC reports. I managed 45 checking accounts and 40 CD/CDARS investment accounts and strive to keep the highest interest rates possible. JB Hunt Transportation – Fixed Asset Accountant/Staff Accountant 1995 – 2002

Responsible for reconciliation of fixed assets, monthly roll forward, like-kind exchange, what-if scenarios for accelerating depreciation on fixed assets groups of 500 trucks or more and accounted for over 130,000 assets. Daily flash (which shows a snapshot of prior days’ business to all VP’s), bank reconciliation, AR & AP reconciliation, PeopleSoft and Oracle software upgrades.
