Focal Point Lighting. Chicago, Illinois, March 2015 to July 2016

Director of Assembly Operations

- Managed fully vertically integrated LED lighting operation.

- Responsible for final assembly and paint line management and procedures including safety, quality and productivity initiatives.

- Oversee 4 direct reports, 250 assembly operators, two powder coat paint lines and one liquid booth paint operation totaling 25 paint operators.

- Increased productivity by 35% by increasing capacity. Reduced footprint of production cells and standardized the cells to accommodate all products.

- Implemented pull system between paint line and assembly to reduce inventory on the production floor. Created Kan Ban carts as a visual trigger between paint and assembly to reduce inventory.

- Redesigned production floor to create a one piece flow and point of use replenishment system. Strategically placed Mini Markets within cells that were replenished by a water spider to reduce down time and stock outs.

Logistic Operations Manager (2010-2015)

- Responsible for warehouse management and procedures including timely and accurate receipt, put away and delivery of material. Ensure proper inventory controls are in place and safety guidelines are followed. Drive efficiency improvements through layout, part storage and presentation.

- Establish guidelines for inventory strategies of materials using knowledge of reorder point planning, plan on demand (MRP), Kanban’s, and consignment tools.

- Ensure shipping and receiving crews operate in the most efficient, productive, safe, accurate and professional manner possible. Develop and evaluate staff performance put-away/picking rates and accuracy.

- Increased productivity by 30% by implementing zone picking for small components, slow moving components and hardware zones.

- Increased warehouse capacity by 15% by implementing a consolidation program through the WMS.

Technical Manager (2006-2015)

- Develop and monitor annual labor and material budget of $420,000.

- Manage seven R & D model and jig fixture machinist.

- Responsible for developing and designing testing equipment for lighting

- Technical interface on new products, existing products, and engineering changes

with both manufacturing engineering and division engineering/R&D.

Industrial Engineering Supervisor (1999-2006)

-Responsible for automation and cost improvement initiatives, resulting in over 3 million dollars in cost savings in a 7 year period.

-Implemented cell manufacturing, resulting in a 35% increase in thru-put, a 40% reduction in set-up, and a 65% reduction in scrap.

-Supervise three industrial Engineers and one manufacturing engineer.

-Represent manufacturing engineering in company engineering value analysis team consisting of members from design engineering, purchasing, sales, marketing, and product services, resulting in multiple cost savings.

-Responsible for overseeing initial operations in Tijuana Mexico, which included

initial production floor and production line layouts. Other responsibilities included

fixture design and insuring equipment was functional upon arrival in Mexico.

-Developed standard operating procedures for operations, inspection and maintenance.

Packaging Engineer (1999-2015)

-Develop and design new packaging for lighting products.

-Design and create labels for packaging and products that meet UL specification.

-Create and maintain BOMS for packaging and labels.

-Create and maintain bar-code database that meets UPC standards and specifications.

-Supervise 3 label operators that produce labels to meet production requirements.

-Work with marketing, purchasing, and design engineering on retail packaging designs for Lowe’s home center business.

-Implement cost improvements involving corrugated and various multi-packs to utilize trailer space and reduce product unit cost, resulting in a $300,000 cost savings in freight and material.

Production Supervisor (1997 -1998)

- Supervise 4 production lines with 30 – 40 union employees.

- Manage daily schedule and attainment goals.

- Conducted facility safety evaluations in compliance with OSHA standards.

- Planned machinery and personnel to meet production attainment.
