● Medical Lab. Technologist:

I worked as a Med. Tech in the state of the art facility of the Blood Bank of Bellevue Hospital, New York. Here my duties were to do tests for blood typing, screening for antibodies, cross-matching of blood with manual and machine methods and issuing products. These required me to be very familiar with and having a detailed understanding of current protocols in Clinical Pathology and AABB guidelines. My work was a great example of the integration of deferent skills - on the station dealing with manual & machine work while off the station dealing with detail computer knowledge. I must say the nature of the job perfectly suited my personality because it required a great deal of discipline, in-depth knowledge of the field & computer systems, extended hours and healthy interpersonal relationship with colleagues.

Research Experience:

● Research Fellow:

Columbia University Medical Center, New York

As a research fellow at Columbia University Medical Center, I was involved in a project that required me to do cell culture of Neuroblastoma cell line with different protocols. I performed oxygen-glucose deprivation & reperfusion and viability assay of this cell-culture by different methods such as MTT and Calcein/Ethidium homodimer.

I was also engaged in a project to assess functions of mitochondria of neonatal mice's brain following a hypoxic-ischemic injury. For that, I did isolation of mitochondria from mice's brain, doing enzymatic assessments of that isolated mitochondria and checking its functions by different methods like mitochondrial respiration assay, calcium capacity, protein content, citrate assay and aconitase assay.

I also helped postdoctoral research scientist in her experiment by reading and analyzing research papers, drawing my own conclusion and helping her in problem-solving. During leisure time in the lab, I had observed and learned many essential techniques and experiments like PCR & W-Blot from her.

● Clinical Research Assistant:

Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital, New York:

I worked for Dr. Rakesh Sahni for his clinical research studies in his Human Infant Physiology Laboratory in Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York Presbyterian. One of his studies was designed to evaluate cardiac physiology with a non-invasive manner in babies with congenital heart disease. This study involved pre-operation and post-operation assessment of physiology, analysis of long-term outcome and comparison of different pathophysiologies like Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and Truncus Arteriosus via noninvasive manner. Clinical Experience:

● Shadow Physician:

Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital, New York:

As a Physician Observer in NICU of Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital, I shadowed a 'Yellow Team' that deals with cardiac problems in neonates. I actively participated in group discussions by Neonatologists, Pediatric Cardiologists and fellow doctors regarding the pathophysiology of congenital heart diseases and their management preoperative and postoperative. I followed few cases very closely and discussed them in detail with attending doctors about their management, prognosis, and long-term outcome. During noon conferences, I got an excellent opportunity to stay in tune with most advance protocols and recent happenings in Pediatrics and especially in Neonatology. In M&M conferences, I learned about mistakes that should be avoided for better and efficient medical management.

● Medical Officer:

Hanumant Hospital, India

I worked in one of the best hospitals in a rural area of Gujarat. Here I gave rounds to attending doctors, followed patients closely for long-term disease manifestation and assisted attending doctors in the Emergency room and in their office for outpatient clinic.

Sardar Hospital, India

I worked in the multi-specialty hospital. Where, I counseled mothers on perinatal care, benefits of immunization, breastfeeding & family planning and counseled parents regarding care of newborn.

Madhav Children's Hospital, India

I shadowed a pediatrician as a medical officer. I worked at an outpatient clinic, general pediatric ward and in NICU. My duties in this hospital were to take history and doing physical for patients in his office, helping him during vaccinations and giving him rounds of in-patients. Other Experience:

● Program coordinator:

Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization Program

During Medical school and Clerkship/Internship, I worked for IPPI program for five years. My work as a program coordinator included to set a goal for vaccination, to figure out a plan for a field visit, to analyze daily work done by the team, to solve problem that arose during project, to counsel parents for health benefits of immunization and motivate my team to achieve goals and perform with excellence. This project required me to deal with Government officials and to link them with field workers who were the key aspect of the entire project. Other Programs:

I worked with Government run community health programs like School Health for Children, Filariasis Awareness, Tuberculosis Control program and Contraception & Safe sex awareness. During these programs, I had not only achieved my goals successfully but also counseled people and motivated my team to fulfill criteria set by Department of Health. These task as a program coordinator involved briefing of daily updates to Health Commissioner and conveying his message to my team.

● Executive Committee Member:

Blood Donors' Association, India

As an executive committee member, I worked to bridge recipients and donors. For that, I arranged blood donation camps in communities, raised public awareness for blood donation by poster exhibition and chat, counseled people to donate blood, did fund raising and maintained blood group directory for the entire community. During annual function celebrations, as a vice president of literature committee, I worked as an event manager for literature activities like debate, oratory contests, and essay competitions.

Strength & Skills:

I believe my curiosity, my hunger to learn new things and my determination is my driving force to succeed. Top of this, my joyous nature makes any journey pleasurable. My diverse clinical experience has given me a deep insight to assess conditions of patients, to assess response to therapy and its side effect; my research experience has helped me to do complex task with ease, plan and execute experiments, formulate new protocols, figure out errors, analyze results and problem-solving; my other experiences have made me a good team leader and an outgoing person; And my sound computer knowledge have helped me to document and analyze collected data, check statistical significance and to keep myself stay in tune with most advance protocols and recent happenings in the field.

All these have made me an extroverted, compassionate and competent person with a humble human within.

Hobbies & Interests:

In leisure time, I love to sharpen my axe by listening and reading inspirational and motivational lecture series and books.

Traveling, camping, hiking and hanging out with friends & family give me pleasure and energy for my life. And last but not the least, if time and money permits, I'd love to explore the field of wildlife photography.
