I am an experienced engineer in Quality, Reliability and Test working with suppliers and in house manufacturing to provide product that meets or exceeds the customer’s expectation.

Versalogic – April 2012 thru April 2016 – Supplier Quality Engineer / Production Test Engineer - Operations

Test Engineering Responsibilities:

oCreate functional test programs using Knoppix / Python for 6 NPI projects which resulted in faster running programs for Versalogic’s single board computer line.

oTrack hardware, BIOS and software issues in Mantis

oSimplified the construction of test fixtures resulting in increased uptime and lower maintenance costs.

oProvide on-site support at the EMS during Beta and initial production builds facilitating quicker product launches.

oReview new designs for testability, create test plans and report status to team. Create test procedures train staff on use of fixtures and procedures. Review fallout and report issues for continuous improvement of quality of the product.

My Responsibilities as Supplier Quality Engineer for Versalogic have been focused on Printed Circuit Board Assemblies, Components and Sub-Assemblies covering the following areas:

oUsing SPC tools review supplier’s first pass yield and resolve problems identified by test and inspection processes

oEstablishing first article processes and implementing sampling plan to reduce labor while still assuring product quality. This include electrical and mechanical components requiring the use of GD&T skills

oEvaluate test data and build yields for improvements in processes and for presentation at Quarterly Business reviews.

oReview ECOs for completeness and accuracy; verify the information is transferred to the supplier in a timely manner.

oResponsible for internal CAPA and vendor SCAR processes in terms of tracking progress and evaluating the root cause and corrective action information provided to close SCARs and CAPAs.

oServe as technical lead for the transfer and launch of a significant number of assemblies at existing and newly selected turnkey manufacturing organization. Work with design engineering for manufacturability and testability for new products. Work with Contract Manufacturer for accurate transfer of assembly requirements and validate their documentation.

Azuray Technologies – March 2010 thru February 2012 – Sr. Quality Engineer - Operations

As Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer for Azuray I have responsibility for all manufacturing aspects of the relationship with our local EMS including:

Design for manufacturability and testability for In Circuit test and Functional Test. Development, documentation and validation of all test processes, fixtures and procedures

Using MS projects provide scheduling information of all builds from prototype through Production.

Perform first Article Inspection of all new builds.

Evaluate test data and build yields for improvements in processes and product design.

Serve as primary technical contact between Azuray and board house, facilitate the weekly conference call to review production plans quality issues and material supply problems

Coordinate with EMS quality organization for all safety agency audits

Train EMS personnel on assembly and test processes, review progress of new product builds, evaluate fallout and work with EMS staff on corrective actions.

Write and monitor Corrective Action Reports on all issues found during build and evaluation processes.

Coordinate quotes of board fabrication and assembly to minimize costs while meeting development requirements for boards and units.

Responsible for outgoing shipments of customer sales and evaluation units.

Work with Safety Engineer to prepare samples for Safety Agency Testing.

Lightfleet Corp. – Oct. 2007 to May 2010 – Sr. Manufacturing Test Engineer

Lightfleet is a small start up company in Vancouver whose product was at a proto type stage. My work consisted of maintaining test servers, creating and running scripts to track improvements in throughput. In preparation for production I have put together test plans, man power / space planning documents and designed fixtures for board and system level test. I also provide support of incoming inspection, prototype testing, root cause of failures and software evaluation including developing procedures to add consistency for these evaluation processes. I also had responsibility for installation and field service of the Microsoft Research Prototype system.

In Focus Corp. - Nov. 1995 to Sept. 2007 – Sr. Manufacturing Test Engineer, Quality and Reliability Engineer, Test Manager

Support the New Product Introduction process with Design for Test / Design for Manufacturing reviews, test plan presentations consisting of budget, resources, schedule, the construction of fixtures and creation of test procedures.

Perform vendor audits for selection of new contract manufacturers. Review yield data and work with CM staff to make process improvements and cost reductions. Review yield data from Contract Manufacturers and develop corrective action plans.

Established Reliability / Life / Design Margin testing program for electronic subassemblies. Resolve test, assembly and material supply issues through use of Design of Experiments, Root Cause Analysis and other statistical processes. Setup and ran HALT processes for new products and calculated MTBF numbers for PCBA identifying weaknesses and suggesting alternatives.

Created a program of performing root cause on all early production field failures and created corrective action plans in conjunction with the design group.

Assembled and managed a team of 10 engineers and technicians to provide industry leading measurement and test processes at board, sub-assembly and system level. This included tracking capital expenses on a project by project basis, assignment of resources to meet project schedules and review costs of fixture vendors.

Established system and ECA level testing at local and off shore contract manufacturers by leading the design, construction, documentation and maintenance of automated and manual fixtures and their supporting documentation and procedures.

Document Control - Support the Doc. Control group by taking Lead auditor training to support ISO required in house audits. - Evaluate ECOs for accuracy, completeness and maintenance of product quality and process control.

Protocol Systems - April 1989 to Nov. 1995: Manufacturing Test Engineer III

Represented Test & Manufacturing in the New Product Introduction process providing status on the test development milestones and test plans. I participated in design reviews, made sure manufacturability reviews were performed by board assembly house and did testability reviews and launched ICT fixtures for all ECAs.

Created test processes for system level and ECA production test processes in house and at local vendors. This includes design, construction and documentation of functional test fixtures, In Circuit test fixtures and PC based test systems according to FDA/GMP guidelines.

Created an automated test system for CO2 sensors, controlling the flow of precision test gases utilizing Lab Windows “C” to control the gas flow and measurement processes. Managed the development of a fully automated test system for a closed loop drug delivery and monitoring system. Developed fixtures and procedures for testing printers, RF modules for mobile ECG monitoring and SpO2 modules.
