Academic Projects

I. Manual Cycle time reduction by Low Cost Automation Project at Lucas-TVS:

Conducted Time-study in multiple assembly lines to find the bottlenecks.

Performed 5 Why analysis to arrive at the root cause for quality issues.

Proposed new station to reduce the manual cycle time.

Drafted design for the work station.

Supervised the setup of workstation and developed Standard Operating procedure for it.

II. Book store Simulation with Arena.

Conducted Time-study to collect required data.

Simulated the book store with Rockwell Arena using the collected data.

Conducted value analysis of adding an extra employee.

Calculated the estimated raise in sales by adding an employee

III. Design of new work layout using Cellular manufacturing techniques.

Conducted time study of material movement and replicated existing layout in Auto-CAD.

Used Fuzzy Logic to suggest new layout with less material handling.

Calculated cost and time that could be saved by implementing the new layout.

IV. Ergonomic design of Wheel chair cum Stretcher.

Used anthropometric standard measurements to develop an ergonomic design and modeled it in Pro-E.

V. Design for Six Sigma.

Reduced the Purchase Order Cycle Time & Processing costs in a manufacturing firm using the Six Sigma

Analyzed the process map, performed pareto analysis to understand the problem. Potential causes for the delays are identified

Statistical Analysis (Correlation) is performed to check the relationship between purchase order cycle time and other variables

Redesigned the process flow and proposed a new process monitoring system. A control plan is established to insure that system will continue to perform.
