Position: Community Development Officer
Project: Citizen’s and Civil Society Capacity building on the Reduction of Maternal and Infant mortality in rural areas of Koinadugu District, (Asturia’s Project).
Date: October 2015- March, 2016.

Identified and trained CHW’S in the four catchment communities of Nieni Chiefdom on recognition of signs and symptoms and the use of referral slips and community health book.
Conducted training for the TBA’s on the prompt referral of all delivery cases and to observe IPC protocols in their respective communities to prevent maternal and neonatal mortality.

Stimulate community dialogue discussions on family planning and the underlying factors that contribute to the high rate of early, unwanted and teenage pregnancies which in most cases is responsible for young girls not able to realize their full potentials in life hence stunting the development of the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Trained the distribution crews in all aspects of food distribution, including food management inventory management.
Monitored the distribution of commodities in the field and making sure all the necessary documentations, food ration, and necessary food packages are correct.
Provided support in accessing and supervising the satellite storage facilities for commodities to ensure that the food is safe from theft, rodents and other pest.
Follow up that only eligible beneficiaries are benefiting in the program particularly, in the ration usage.
Supported the District supervisors in Developing and organizing training topics mainly on breast feeding, use of local foods for complementary feeding, care practices, child healthy growth and cooking demonstration and other nutrition education for the beneficiaries in partnership with Peripheral Health Units staff in the communities.
Took part in periodic stock count in the warehouse and checking the necessary documentations including stock cards, making sure the physical inventory and warehouse ledger books are matching together.
Carry out home visits to the relevant households receiving food aid from A/V and generate report on beneficiary’s feedbacks, like transparence of food distribution, ration size, food test and usage of commodities and provide appropriate recommendations for future follow up and actions.
Ensures that standardized and healthy storage practices are implemented in the district and satellite warehouses after completion of the monthly food distribution, compare the quantity issued, and distributed and returned are reconciled.
