Education: M.S. Aerospace Strength Analysis (1974), Georgia Tech., Atlanta

Position: Aerospace/Aircraft Senior Stress Analysis Engineer

Summary of Work Experience:

1)FEM Model and Analysis: Created FEM using NASTRAN, FEMAP and performed analysis via various self-written codes, scripts, post-processors and FEMAP.

2)Stress Analysis Related Software: Coding: Extremely proficient in decoding NASTRAN op2 data blocks and using them towards structural analysis including minimum margins of safety and CDI calculations.

3)NASTRAN FEM checks: Created, implemented software that performs bulk data checks, 1g load, reaction, deflection, stiffness, free-free frequency check. A single UNIX command performs the tasks of NASTRAN dat file creation, NASTRAN sol 101 and 103 job execution, output post-processing and saving the findings in a report file. This software is widely used in the companies.

4)Rocket bellows/tubes min MS and CDI analysis: Created, implemented software that uses random vibe load factor, PSD or bin data along with steady state loads, temperature and enforced displacements.

5)NASTRAN beam, shell, solid element min MS calculations: using op2 file with many subcases and option for yield, ultimate, modulus of rupture and pseudo-nonlinear (strain energy or Neuber hyperbola method).

6)Classical Fatigue (CDI) Analysis: with options for MIL-HDBK-5, user defined or Manson-Coffin S/N curve, Normal or Rayleigh distribution, pseudo-nonlinear stress using strain energy or Neuber hyperbola, Goodman/Gerber stress field conversion using NASTRAN results or hand input stress spectrum.

7)Conversion of NASTRAN binary op2 data blocks: 70+ binary data blocks to ASCII tabular data files.

8)Avoidance of Manual Data Manipulation: a) Created process to map pressure data on NASTRAN shell elements of complex FEMs. b) Method to create contour deviated NASTRAN FEM due to manufacturing defects.

Hand Analysis: Various types of hand analyses including lugs, fittings, bolt patterns, diagonal tension, load interaction, bath tub fittings, buckling, crippling, shear flow, beam column, strain energy, unit load methods, load paths, structural frequencies, welded structures, and fatigue/fracture analyses.

Software Development and Implementation: Extremely proficient in developing user-friendly NASTRAN FEM post-process software using various languages in UNIX/LINUX and PC platforms.

Employment Records

United Launch Alliance/ Lockheed Martin, Denver CO (1985-1991, 1995 - 2014)

Created error-free methods and processes for both Atlas and Delta rockets towards process improvements, perfect product delivery and cost saving. Developed process for Delta fleet standardization. Optimized fwd SRB ring with a net weight saving of 300+ lb. Optimized existing DCSS equipment shelf for common avionics allowing more equipment to be placed on the shelf while reducing the shelf weight.

Was a go-to-guy for complex and difficult analytical problems. Implemented stress library (a collection of software for NASTRAN pre- and post-processors in unix and linux platform).

Contract Jobs: Enjoyed working as contract aircraft stress engineer
