Principal Pierson Vocational High School, Nogales, AZ 2006-2016
Oversaw daily academic, security and custodial operations; hiring and training of more than 30 staff members; performance evaluations;
and monitoring of work hours.
Managed the installation of 8 Promethean boards and more than 120 computers in eight classrooms, as well as procurement and monitoring
of all academic technology programs.
Played a key role as main point of contact for more than $100K in grants, donations, and Title I funding for computers and our
technology, which was uncommon for Title One to allow funding for computers.
Facilitated training and development for teachers to transfer to non-traditional methods or disruptive innovations.
Took charge of maintaining all budgets and purchases for school grounds, academics, and classrooms.
Administered the hiring and training of all new teachers and staff to be outstanding school personnel.

Drove key efforts, which significantly brought improvements in school operations 2005-2016, including:
Growth in graduation rates from 25% to 65%, attendance rates from 75% to 88% and a reduction of drop-out rates from 35% to 6.5%
Achievement of adequate yearly progress (AYP) for two out of three years, which had not been accomplished in prior years.
Obtainment of Letter Grades that positioned the school as top 50 alternative high school.
Boosting campus appearance by supervising all custodial operations and instilling a dress code for student body.
Created a graduation ceremony with caps and gowns for students and teachers and group photo hanging in the office.
Interfaced with and encouraged district representatives to purchase the school’s messenger online program, which was utilized by all
schools in 2010.
Recognized as the first Principal to utilize; Facebook, creating school web pages, DirecTV, and TEchSoup; serving as member of Chamber
of Commerce; partnering with Food Bank and the Arizona Criminal Justice System to conduct surveys among students; utilizing
differentiated learning, blended learning, and various on-line academic programs; and creating safety and technology plans for the
school.
Contributed in the development of (career technical education) Certified Nursing Assistant Class, which was a top program in 2012 and
recognized by the State Board of Nursing.
Supported and enforced a student scholarship program of $25K yearly with Mexican Consulate and County Attorney’s Office that aided
more alternative high school students to attend college.
Recruited teachers from India, thus earning recognition as the only principal to initiate the program.
Earned selection to be part of accreditation program for achieving success in school operations.
Facilitated saving the Transition to School Work Program, thus being promoted to oversee the district program.
Challenged Arizona Department of Education on data utilization for alternative schools; wherein formulas were scheduled for
modification after viewing the explanations.
Earned compliments from the school district attorney for developing and improving the teachers, while preparing and documenting
evaluation plans; as well as from the local police, probation, and border patrol for maintaining the safety of the students safe and
dealing with them on illegal activities.
Developed PowerPoint Presentations of the state of education on the Mexican Border to students from Arizona State University and
University of Minnesota and business leaders of the Phoenix area, which were well received from 2014, 2015, and 2016.
