The Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority (ADWEA) was established in 1999 with the primary purpose of unbundling and managing the privatization of the multiple entities and stock companies that had arisen over more than 30 years of a major Abu Dhabi water and electricity initiative.
Soon after ADWEA’s formation in 1999 management recognized the need for an asset management system in order to realize efficiency benefits and improve business practices. Following an evaluation of the software functionality, technical expertise, capability to deliver and financial strength of several competitive solutions, MRO’s Maximo was selected as a complete Enterprise Asset Management solution (EAM).
Duties and responsibilities on the project included:
Implement Maximo 5.2 to automate Power transmission and distribution business processes.
Deliverables:
The actual implementation of the Maximo was performed in one step, a partial changeover was not considered. On a Friday the old system was being used and on Monday Maximo was being used by all core users. This total conversion worked only because of the modifications made to the system by each team prior to implementation and because all training was conducted prior to the actual implementation.
