Principal Process Engineer, 2012- 2013
Evonik (contract engineer via Sirius Technical)
Theodore, Alabama
Developed and completed a study in energy optimization which improved the energy utilization for a major pharmaceutical plant; potential energy savings were between $500,000 to $1,000,000 per year as a result of this work
Supported process safety studies (i.e. LOPA and PHA) and engaged in developing solutions to the recommendations
Performed relief valve, rupture disc sizing, and associated piping hydraulics for various chemical processing units
Used process simulation to aid in process design and relief valve sizing
Process Engineer, 2007- 2012
Chevron Phillips
Pascagoula, Mississippi
Supported the para-xylene process which involved a variety of unit operations such as adsorbtion and freeze crystallization
Day-to-day functions included troubleshooting, optimization, and long-term unit reliability both from a production and a process design perspective
Typical process design work initiated by PHA/LOPA type processes (i.e., relief devices and vent piping), unit revamps (pumps, exchangers, etc.), and long-term optimization projects utilizing simulation (Aspen plus and Pro II)
Interacted with commercial business unit to insure short term and long term success in process unit reliability and throughput
Actively engaged with refinery personnel to develop solutions to everyday issues common between the chemical unit and refinery
Process Engineer, 2006 - 2007
URS Corporation
Mobile, Alabama
Provided process engineering support to various processes that included gas, refinery, specialty chemicals, and pulp and paper
Performed detailed energy studies for various processes that resulted in both project justifications and energy savings
Sized relief valves for liquid and vapor services in complicated piping networks
Designed heat exchangers for organic and inorganic processes
Developed flow models with detailed mass and energy balances for different processes
Actively participated in front-end project work
Process Optimization Engineer, 2005 - 2006
