University of Maryland Baltimore County – Critical Care
Emergency Medical Transport Program
120 hour course of study covering the management of the critical medical and trauma patient in an out-of-hospital environment. Curriculum includes multipressor therapy, sepsis management, ARDS management, ventilator strategies, advanced airway management including surgical airways, non-invasive airway management (BIPAP/CPAP), chest tube placement and monitoring, inserting and transducing arterial lines, capnography monitoring, Swan-Ganz, flight physiology, lab interpretation, etc.
Cleveland Clinic – Certified Intensive Care Provider
160 hour program covering the care and management of critical medical and trauma patients in an out-of-hospital environment. Materiel was similar in scope and depth to the CCEMTP program and included a 40-hour clinical internship at the Elliot Hospital Intensive Care Unit.
Clinical Orientation – Critical Care Transport
450 hour supervised clinical orientation with the Northeast Mobile Critical Care Transport Team. Included grand rounds at Brigham and Womens Hospital, training at the Stratus Medical Simulation Lab. NEMCCT was a national leader in transporting both VAD and Balloon Pump patients.
Society of Critical Care Medicine - Fundamentals of Critical Care Support
16 hour course designed to introduce the concepts of critical care management to Hospitalist and Emergency Medicine clinicians. Materiel covered includes radiographic interpretation, blood gasses, advanced pharmacology, ventilator management strategies, fluid resuscitation, etc.
American College of Surgeons - Advanced Trauma Life Support
20 hour course covering the concise focused management of the trauma patient. Chest tube, central line, endotracheal intubation, surgical airways and complex medical simulations all covered in depth.
The Difficult Airway Course: Emergency
24 hour intensive study of management of the elective, crash, and failed airway. Extensive strategies for medication assisted intubation, supraglotic devices, direct laryngoscopy, video laryngoscopy, surgical airways, etc.
The Heart Course: Emergency
Practical knowledge and skills to diagnose, risk-stratify, and treat cardiovascular emergencies, data on ACS, including optimization of anti-platelet and anti-thrombotic therapies how to use the latest imaging modalities, such as CT-Coronary in chest pain patients, as well as updates on management of low-risk chest pain, strategies on how to use both existing and novel biomarkers for diagnosis, risk stratification, treatment of patients with cardiovascular emergencies.
