My skills include 32 yrs. of plant experience, including 26 yrs. experience trouble-shooting electronic, pneumatic, DCS, and PLC control systems. Was moved up to Journeyman status 1 yr. early for my trouble-shooting abilities. Have spent the last 7 yrs. as lead control specialist in the utilities dept. Planned and oversaw the complete change over from pneumatic to electronic controls on one of the plant boilers.

EXPERIENCE

UNITED STATES STEEL, GRANITE CITY WORKS JAN. 1984 – JUNE 2016

Journeyman Control Specialist: Responsible for the Installation, Calibration, Preventive Maintenance, and Trouble-shooting of many different types of instruments and control systems. These systems included electronic, pneumatic, and PLC controls for Blast Furnaces, Boilers, and Coke Ovens. Must be able to trouble-shoot these systems quickly in the field to keep production in operation. Previous duties included operating machines for production at the Coke Ovens. The cleaning of doors, jambs, and lids for the maintaining of the Coke Oven Batteries. General labor work throughout the plant.

ABEX CORP./AMSCO DIVISION, ST. LOUIS, MO. 1979 – 1981

Annealing Furnace Operator: Was responsible for the heat treating of all castings from the foundry. Building the loads for heat treating, maintaining the annealing furnaces, monitoring the heat treating process, and pulling the loads on time. Previous duties included the rough and finish grinding of castings. Assisted molders in preparing molds for casting, closing molds, and chaining of molds for lifting by cranes.
